I'm a little concered about the tape. As anyone who's used electrical tape can tell you, after a while it ceases to be sticky and leaves a sticky residue behind. Being that this part is under friction, I doubt that this tape will stay in place long. And the residue it leaves behind can't be good. Other than not using any tape, is there another alternative?

TheLex,
You don't need to use the tape. It just helps a bit ( < 5%). I didn't use it before, I just put on my Z yesterday. I am going to try something else today, but this will cost money to get. I don’t think it will make much of a difference, but I will put a post up later today to update all, and let you make your choice.

Here just a little concern of mine. I drive a 91 DSM. The DSM companies decided to put softer bushings in their cars from the factory instead of metal ones for the exact same reasons, to dampen noise and rattling. Problem? 3-5 Years down the road, the bushings start to harden, and play starts to develop in the shifter. So what are all the DSM guys doing now? Buying METAL bushings to replace the stock soft bushings that have hardened so that they can find 1st gear again. I swear, these things have the worst shifters on the face of the earth. This may not be true for the 350Z, but I think some of the same logic might apply. Oh well, thats just my .02 Peace.

Deadalus

I use polyurathane that will not harden/soften over the cars age, and is resistant to oil, heat, or anything that you will encounter on the road ( what you are probably talking about are rubber bushings), plus there is a metal insert within the poly bushing that goes on the Z. Even if the bushing falls apart, you will have no problem shifting.

This is a little suggestion for everyone using the poly bushings... don't forget to lubricate them! Poly can creak if it is too dry. The best grease is a little white lithium grease, but probably any would do.

I have had poly busining on some suspension components in an older car and I ended up with all kinds of creaks before I took it all apart again and greased it.

Just my $0.02.

The "new bushings" have been mailed today by mail. You should receive them soon. If you haven’t received them by the end of the Month, please email me.
