Good luck.

I think you should track your car, your lying to yourself if you think you will track a 1000+whp Viper but not a 600 hp Z. Get out on the track, and put yourself to the test. When you appreciate it what it feel like to improve your time by .1 of a second you will have a new found respect for your car, and know what it really feels like to control the power from a dig not just fro ma 3rd gear roll on the street. I try to track my car at least 1X a year now (my chances of breaking are much higher than before the build), the rush I get is not comparable to anything I have done. Good luck in whatever you decide to do...

a) it's a lot more power and what i'm looking for on the track (would not be suitable for the street)
b) it's less cost factor than what a lot of people think... i could build a viper for the same money i currently have in my Z
c) again, my car wasn't built for the track... i put as much into the paint job and interior work as i did the motor... i don't want to wreck that...
i understand where you're going...and what you're experiencing is what i want to experience as well... but, i think i've set my mind on the fact that it will be in a much higher HP car..and not my Z....
Once you get my steering wheel in your car you'll fall in luv all over again.
I don't think what you're experiencing is any different than what happens to most of us that are building something. It's the pursuit that drives us. Once it's done, it's either change the goal or move on.

Id rather repaint my front end 2X a year and track my car than never track it and have a show car finish.

I know stormcrow pretty well, and I think his opening comments are spot on. When his car was here, he really enjoyed watching the build project for updates, making minor changes here and there, upgraded some cosmetic items..etc..etc. He used to come around the shop quite a bit when his car was here, and now that his car is at his home, I dont see him as much anymore.
But I know how you feel. The buildup and anticipation is a lot of the fun, as well as researching parts..etc..etc. Then once you get the car back, there is a feeling of "what's next", and it can be difficult to really enjoy the car.
I am pretty sure if you get a Viper, you will build it up, and then be in the same situation after the build up.
I do think you would enjoying turning the car into a track monster, and go out there and beat the crap out of it, with total disregard for its physical appearance. Every time I track my car, a piece of my fancy body kit would crack or completely fall off. So I went back to bone stock body pieces....and I never felt better!
My car has gradually phased itself into a road course car, rather than a straight line monster (although it can still hold its own). Once we aquire our new G37 shop car, the 350Z will be gutted and caged, and be a 100% dedicated lightweight Time Attack vehicle.
Stormcrow..we can work on Viper's too.

Now that my Z isnt my DD and my new job has more days off, im completely turning my ongoing Z project to the Drag/Track route. . Either way i hope you find your love again..wether it be Z or V..lol

i couldn't agree with this more. i used to be into vettes (still am i guess) and built the heck out of them. one was a show car, the other a street racer/show car. neither were much fun to drive around alot though and kept breaking parts. i thought the Z would be a good descision because there really wasn't hardly any aftermarket for them at the time and still abit questionable on how the market would be on them. so i figured it would be a car i would leave stock and get RELIABILITY out of it. look at my sig, that plan went to hell!! i will never own a junk car, and any car i do buy in the future will always get tricked out no matter how hard i try not to. it is just in my blood.

When I was at Forged Performance getting my TT's installed Sharif and I was talking about Z owners that have 550+whp that are looking for even more power. I was kind of shocked to hear it, but after driving my car (even with TTs), I can understand the need for more hp.
Now, am I losing interest in my car? A resounding "hell no" can be heard every time my wastegates open and the sound of open dumps can be heard for blocks away.
If fact, I would be more than happy to remain at this level of power throughout the lifetime of my car. Although I do have plans in the future to build, I'm not in a hurry for the time being.
I have to say though that the preparation and planning are just as satisfying as the end result. So I'm having just as much fun getting there as I am when I finally arrive. Maybe it's because I had to wait so long to actually get TTs that I appreciate my car more than you do, but I can almost bet that you'll regret selling your car if you decide to.
Good luck with whatever you decide...and I hope you find that missing spark
