Default made some mods to my valve covers.......

well......

I decided to paint my valve covers. I used a 2 stage high-temp paint with a red base coat and then a clear coat........Let's see how well it holds up.

let me tell you.......it was a ***** trying to install the valve covers with the engine in the car. trying to keep from messing up the valve covers was really hard, but I got it done. :5091: also, check out my newest custom addition. I ground off the plastic pcv crossover fitting that goes between the valve covers. then, I drilled and tapped the valve covers to accept these -6AN fittings. finally, I made a short length of -6AN line to go between the covers. Looks cool.

BTW,....sorry about the crappy camera phone pics...the phone made the valve covers look orange, but they really are red....I promiss!

I like it, nice job. Switching the PCV line to AN fittings and SS braid looks cool. I imagine the red looks nice, but the orange appearance from your camera phone makes your engine look like a cheesy Hemi-wannabe, though

Looks good, have you thought about anodizing the intercooler piping going to the TB?

I have a chromed one already( sitting in my dining room), but I have to send it back to SFR.........there is a bit of turbulence where the MAF bung is located and it was causing some minor bucking and stumbling......I have just been too lazy to send it back to Tim.

That'll look good with the valve covers.

hows the paint on your valve covers holding up?
So basically what were the steps you used?
degreaser, scuff up the exterior, clean with rubbing alcohol, spray couple coats of red, then a couple of coats of the clear?
any primer?

bikini,

thew paint is just as it was when I put it on. I am very happy with the results.

I used a product called BullDog adhesion promoter. it is a great product for painting plastic parts. you won't need a primer if you use it.
