Default 2007 2nd gear?

any other 07 owners grind 2nd more frequently then you'd like?

When i'm flooring it and shifting through the gears, i've never grinded any gear except 2nd.

maybe i'm just a bad driver...

It does seem to "resist going in" every once in awhile. Once it even popped outta gear. However, its getting better, so I'm probably just getting use to it more. I'm probably being too soft

That and 6th gear ... 6th gear is hard to get in sometimes for some reason o_O

Yep, done the same thing 2 to 3 times. High rpm 1st and then grind second. You really have to jam it in there.

lol, by jamming it in there is how it grinds though lol.

i think i've figured it out. The transmission seems to be at a slight angle. So everytime we are trying to pull straight back at high revs it jams, but if you pull straight back and SLIGHTLY to the right, it goes in pretty smooth. Seems to be the same with 6th gear too.

The trans on my car was very stiff shifting from 1st th 2nd for about the first 3500 KM. Just about took it back to Nissan because i was positive there was a problem with it. At 5000 KM it is like shifting a different transmission, night and day. I think they take awile to break in and loosen up some. I also find that shifting quick helps, i find when being lazy and shifting slower i seem to bonk gears.

I don't know about the transmission being at a "slight angle," but I have the same experience you do, especially in 6th. I suspect since I'm not used to having a 6th gear I am probably pulling slightly to the left whether I realize it or not. Merely *thinking* about pulling slightly to the right gets me 6th gear every time.

As for 2nd, initially I was having a little trouble being perfectly smooth both with the transmission and the clutch engagement. But I've only had the car for 600 miles, and with practice it's gotten substantially better. Higher-rpm shifts (limited by break-in requirements, of course) are smoother than lower-rpm shifts. Still working on it.

I'm definitely not a fan of the 1>2 shift, always gets caught up a little bit, grinded once. Hopefully it will smooth out in the future. I drove my friends rx8 and the gates and shifter felt much better. But that's about all the rx8 has on the Z, so I'll gladly take my Z any day. OHH yeah nd teh suicide doorz!!!11

Stop shifting so fast and it won't happen.

You're not clutching fast enough, or your hand is faster than your foot. I did it only 2 of the 13 times I ran at the track yesterday. Only times were when I wasn't really paying attention to the shift into 2nd.

You are all bullsh*ting yourselves. We all know the trans in the Z is weak no matter what year. Just because your Z is knew doesn't make it any better than an 03. Sorry but gotta tell it like it is. Mine grinds in 3rd and 5th real bad no matter how i drive it.

Sorry man, I don't have any grinds when I drive day to day, no matter what rpm I shift at. Ran 4 runs at PIR without a single grind too.

Maybe there's something amiss with the trans. I've had problems in the past with my 04 when it was new attempting to go to 5th only to find I was actually in third. But realized real quick after a few embarrassing shifts to move slightly further right. For a while I had to remind my hand and mind to work together.
