I see your point. Majority of class action suits are for the attorneys sake.

The people named in the suits, other than the lead individual, rarely get any monies that amouint to anything. What it does do hopefully, assuming the suit is not frivilous, is cost the defendant, if they loose, a lot of money that hopefully makes them think twice about not owning up to fixing the problem or taking care of their customers. Again, this assumes the suit is legitimate.
