I think my friend burned out my clutch
My friend grabed my keys and took my car out for a spin without asking me (not to pissed) and came back and told me my clutch was a piece of **** and stuck real bad. I think he heard me saying that i slipped the clutch out from 4k when racing a G35 and tried it and the clutch just stuck to the floor and he kept on it.
Well anyway he says his 1999 GTI doesnt do that and my cars a piece of ****. I just responed with your car has a smaller engine that a 2 liter Coke bottle and he shut up.
Moral of the story is my clutch is feeling a little strange like its slipping and i can smell it every time i go anywhere no matter if im driving it hard or easy.
Any help or suggestions would be great. Otherwise im planning on buying a Jim Wolf Technogoly clutch and flywheel.
Thanks

Ignoring the smell, does the clutch slip?

The smell could be it slipping. (oops...didn't read the post above...)
That is easy enough to check for. With the car moving at a steady speed, say about 20 mph in second or third, feed in some more gas. If the revs climb too fast for the increase in road speed, then it is slipping.
If the clutch was cable operated then sometimes you can dial in some adjustment, but with hydraulic it usually means the disc is pretty much worn out.
At some point if you go to far the metal internals of the clutch disc could be exposed, and these could damage the pressure plate and flywheel.
I'd take it to a mechanic that you trust and have it looked at.

You sure the clutch isn't smelling because of your coordination? I never smell my clutch....
I wouldn't consider the smell as your clutch going out, i would consider it as a sign to stop powershifting, and coming off the clutch slow.
If it slips, you will see the engine rev and you not go anywhere... then it will pop into gear and jolt slightly. (depending on your RPM's) If that is happening, then yes i would plan on a new clutch within the next 2-3 months. Not the biggest thing in the world, but still costly. JWT is a good decision according to everyone's opinions. i believe you will be pleased with that choice on a DD Z.

Yeah i dont think its burned out but i get a wiff of clutch every now and then and that pisses me off. It doesnt seem to slip but on harder starts it just doesnt feel like its catching very well and it feels a bit slower through 1st.
Whatever i order the Jim Wolf Technology clutch and flywheel and there on the way. Just for piece of mind and might as well incase FI is in future.

If the clutch is fried from one round of beating, then I'd be pissed. But oh well. Honestly, it sounds like you and your friend have been pretty rough on the car and now the clutch is toast. Just get the JWT combo and call it a day. As far as charging your friend, good luck with that....
