Default overheating issues

Pls help...would the engine shut down/stall by itself if the car overheats to a certain temperature? My fd's car stalled today right after the engine temperature gauge needle went up...it was like the engine suddenly lost power and then shut down by itself

any ideas?

yes the ECU will try to save the engine when the temps go too high

but I couldn't start the car even after everything cooled down...could that be something else ? or the ECU is locking something?
the thing is we were on the track (road course) and it suddenly overheated...but we slowed down right away (when the temp needle past halfway)...the engine lost power and got cut off...seems so fast everything happened within 1 min.

could it be the fuel pump overheating? that causes the engine to stall?
