Default Performance parts for my 350z

Hi everybody, i bought two weeks ago a 07 350z touring and I am a newbie with this kind of car. I always had ford car before.(mustang).

I am planning to put some performance parts in to beat my buddy mustang Gt in the quarter mile but i don't know where to start. I don't which parts should I get and from who. The only thing I know is that I have the new motor with 306 Hp. I know I should put some drag tires on but again i don't know which size?? Thanks Everyone for the help

P.S. It may be possible that I have a couple of mistake in my message it's because i'm a french canadian.

Mike

Start by going to the dragstrip and practicing.

is his mustang stock? if so, you should be able to beat him stock if u can drive.

also, there isn't that many parts out for the 07 yet, the exhaust is still the same, so u can start there. u can get test pipes, but the flange is differnt on the 07's, so u'll have to cut it off the stock cats, and weld it on the test pipes, exhaust + test pipes pick up 20 whp on an 07.

stillen makes intakes for it, but they add like 3 whp, so u decide if its worth it or not, also fugita makes intakes, but i don't know if they're for sale yet, and the only know dyno is the one from fugita, so don't believe the 10 whp gain, either wait till someone independent try's them out or u can be teh guinie pig.

in a straigh line, drag radials help a great deal to

If his stang is stock you got him beat if you can drive, like warmmilk above me said, but if not, with some Drag radials, and practice, depending on what he has done, and if he is on street tires, you can beat him. Also, if your looking for some upgrades, getting a exhaust (HKS or X02 which is an HKS replica are probably best) along with some Test pipes or high flow cats will make a huge diff. I think some dynos showed about 17HP gain from exhaust and testpipes. Search for forged performance HR dissected, i think they had the dynos.

i wouldn't jump out and say which exhaust is best for the 07, cause the hr is a whole different animal than the de. the exhaust that sharif used was the greddy evo tt, whis is a 2.75 dual optimised for fi. on de's this usually lost power everywhere and gained a little on the very top end. with the hr, it lost a little below 2.5k (indifferent) matched everywhere else, and gained 10 on the top end (6k to red line if i recall correctly, don't have time right now to look for the thread with the dyno)

my personal opinion is that the hks dual will not provide the best gains on the 07 cause its a 2.25 dual (if i was informed correctly, going off word of mouth, so don't quote me on this one). i think that a 2.5 dual exhaust will provide best gains on an hr, small enough to keep velosity up in the mid range and bif enough to let it breath on the top end

my personal opinion is that the best exhaust (going purely off an educated guess) is the fast intentions or the aps 2.5 dual. i personally cant stand the way the fi mufflers look, so if nothing better than the aps comes out by the time i'll be buying an exhaust, thats what i'm gonna get (whenever thats gonna happen. but if u don't mind how th fi looks, i think it will provide slighly better gains because it has an x pipe, where as the aps doesn't. however, the aps uses a single muffler, so that sort of acts as an x pipe, but its so far down the exhaust, it prolly doesnt make any difference

my opinionated 2 cents

I would have to disagree with that because I just drove my brother-in-laws last night for the first time and that sh*t was fast! A stock Z would beat it on a track but definitely not on a quarter mile race.

I have a friend at work that has a 06 GT and while the low-end torque is nice, it's not faster overall than my car...We ran against each other a few times and I consistently beat him by 1-1.5 car each time...He was pissed, but once he starts putting mods on his, forget about it.

What are you 12? You don't need a drag radial, you need to learn what a car is and how it works, and then how to drive it, and then actually put some money into it, and then we can talk drag tires.

i test drove a mustang gt, i can confidently say that my car is faster, ****ty driver in the z and the mustang can win, but equal drivers, even slightly better drive in mustang, the z will still win, in any contest of speed

but yes, repeating what's been said before, if the mustang is modded, thats a different story, i don't know how much they gain with just an intake and a chip, but they gain a pretty decent amount with bolts ons (320whp possible on full boltons)

Full bolt-ons and a chip, I think they could reach more than 320whp...I came close to buying a GT, but I just hate Fords (American cars for that matter) and I test drove my car the same day...I'm glad I did

i was just saying that 320 was possible, didn't really say that it was the max, i just didn't know if more than that could be achieved with boltons' only, but i know that 320 could be done for sure
