Default Oil leaks anybody?

I bought Syntec today to change my oil with. The guy at the store was going on about how I had too many miles on my car to be running synthetic and that it would be leaking with a few months. Anybody had any problems with oil leaks on synthetic? BTW, I've got 56k on the car.

the guy you talked to is a moron quite honestly, no kind way to say it I'd suggest he needs to go back to some tech schools, because that is outdated, untrue "advice" he gave you

To be honest, I doubted it was true. I ran Amsoil in my 1.8t Jetta all the time and never had any problems. But with all the oil consumption stuff going on, I figured better safe than sorry.

Synthetics do tend to leak through seals and gaskets quicker than regular oils. I have seen issues with rear main seals and valve cover gaskets with 2 of my vehicles running mobil 1.
