Re: Synthetic Oil (i.e. Mobile1) and Fram
Hello,
I have been reading quite a lot of posts regarding oil and what types to get etc.... and I will therefore definitely avoid this topic in its entirety. Can't seem to find anything relating to my issue (if it is one that is).
Can somebody please let me know if there will be any issues with using a regular Fram filter with synthetics (i.e. mobile1). I understand that Fram is not the ideal brand of choice amongst the majority formum members but tomorrow the dealerships are closed (labour day) and I need to do an oil change. Fram does make a filter especially for synthetics but they do not offer it for the 350z. I asked the Guy at the shop and he mentioned the filter will plug up right away (or very soon for that matter). I really don't understand why if you get the same viscosity (i.e. 5W30) synthetic as you would with regular oil. Synthetics do not break down as quick as regular oil but their flow rate (thus oil pressure) should be similar.
Unfortunately none of the shops have Purolator one or K&N in stock. If they did I would definitely get one of those.
Thanks

The first thing that I will say is don't get a fram, just drive for a few more days on what you have. Try to get a mobil 1 filter. It is M1-110. It is sold in most places.

Don't buy Fram. Plenty of tests out there you can find on google.
Seriously:
Fram $3
OEM $5
Some people just don't want to spend an extra couple bucks on an oil filter

Thanks for the pics. I guess the OEM is similar to Fram so does not really matter which one I purchase.
Regardless or which type of oil you use (synthetic or regular) you can pretty much use any type of filter?

Used Purolator (PUREONE) becaused it matches my DB Z. Also, i think iTs pretty good for synthetics.
