Question Clutch pedal shudders when pressed in; intermittent

Well, title pretty much says it. About 75% of the time when I push in the clutch pedal, I feel a vibration or shudder in the pedal. But sometimes, it's a smooth as butta. The last few times I also noticed on cold starts only, a high pitched whining noise (sounds like metal on metal) coming from the clutch when I pushed the pedal in, but within a few seconds, it went away.

Sound like a throwout bearing problem?

Oh, and I searched

First thought that came to mind was the throwout bearing

That's what I'm thinking too. But what exactly could be physically causing the pedal vibration?

what kind of clutch do you have? i've noticed this problem with a lot of z's. Exactly how you explained it. To me, it seems like when the car is cold, the starter turns the motor which causes it to quickly have a scraping sound to it. It only happens on cold start ups. I don't think it's the throw out bearing even though i use to. Because once the clutch is already depressed, when you turn on the car, the motor start. I honestly think it's the flywheel. If your car has the usual flywheel chatter, then it will happen on cold start ups.

also, the pedal vibrations just seems to be input back to the pedal, which goes away also when warmed.

The vibrations I'm experiencing don't go away after the car is warmed up. The squealing sound does go away after a few seconds of running though, but only after the car has been sitting overnight do I get any noise.

Question: is the TO bearing covered under warranty?

nope, unless it's a failing throw out bearing which yours is not. It's hard to get one as well if your car has teh stock throw out bearing from the manufacturer. I can see one failing if you installed one yourself and didn't grease it up well or didn't put the retaining clip on properly.

It's the stock clutch on a JWT flywheel, that I installed myself last summer. New TO bearing was installed at the same time. It's been fine up until the last month or so. Then recently the squealing noise started on top of it all. BTW I don't drag race at all.

I made sure it was greased up and installed properly per the service manual. Weird. I guess all I can do is take up to Nissan and see what they say.
