Who isn't? Hasn't Hinson's webpage supposed to be updated next week for the past few months? Can't wait to hear more on this and hopefully see one in person.

From a conversation I had couple of weeks ago with Hinson-supercars the price would be slightly higher than the S-14 LS1 swap. I'm speculating that should put it around $3300 without the fuel pump upgrade.(for the DIY kit)

Hey I have no experience with swapping engines, but thats pretty cheap, i wonder why its not done before or why a lot more people aren't doing this. I'm sure it'll produce lots of power, and cost way less than going FI.

So lets see...
Kit...$3,300
LS7 (Z06 Motor) $13,000
Misc parts...$1,500

$17,500

SO the next question would be. How much could I sell my Z for. I would say $23,000 (low miles in NW PA)

$23,000+$17,500= $40,500... That is right in 335i territory. BUT not 505hp...

if u want "505" hp, going z06 motors is pretty stupid $$ wise, u can get 500whp from buying a junkward ls1 and getting it rebuild at one of millions of reputable lsx shops in any part of the country for about 5k

what i don't get is why anytime anyone ever thinks about swapping an lsx into anything, they always go crazy with "crate motor." in my opinion its pretty stupid, especially blowing 13k on an ls7

While I agree there are cheaper ways to get 500hp, Getting a motor from a junkyard may not appeal to everyone, The $5800 LS2 crate motor, is a horsepower bargain, and it's appears from the pictures of Noah's car, that there is more than enough room for a maggie M122 SC. Vola, there's +500hp for around 11K

11K if you are installing it yourself. double that if not for proper install and tune.

That's true, but when you look at the cost of a sleeved, stroked, turbo'ed, and tuned VQ35DE, the cost are not that different, plus you have to ton of low rpm torque.

LS2 with heads/cam/exhaust will put down near 500rwhp. Use an ls3 with the same mods it will put you over 500rwhp, all for cheaper than a z06 block.

The way I figure it.
5800 LS2 crate motor ( If you can find a used LS2/trans out of an 05,06 GTO, save big dollars)
2750 T-56 transmission
850 LS7 clutch
2000 AC cond, PS pump w/engine brackets and lines
1050 After market LS2 ecu
3300 Hinson kit includes LSx engine mount subframe, headers, wiring harness, alum. driveshaft, hydraulic cylinder assembly, alum radiator & (if you have AAM fuel system you can skip the fuel system upgrade)
1000 custom exhaust ( you may be able to fab something to fit your 2.5" after market exhaust)
1000 adjustable height coilover shocks, the motor/clutch/transmission/radiator will probably weigh at least 150llbs more,
1000 misc. parts ( This doesn't include installion or tuning)
Hey, Noah am I gettin close? A reputable shop in Houstion quoted me 23k for a top of the line built, sleeved, and stroked to a 4.2 VQ engine with Hal tech ECU

of course the zo6 motor would be nice... but i also think grabbing a new LS3 would be a wonderful swap, along with either a maggie or the new eaton r1900 blower from the upcoming caddy CTS-V would be sweet... thats pretty much a bolt on 550HP/550TQ right there and its all safe...

the LS7 would be nice but i think boosting it would bring more possible problems than boosting an LS3... if it were more reliable to boost an LS7 dont you think GM would have opted to use that motor in the new ZR1 over the smaller displacement LS3?

i doubt noah or anyone is planning on putting a widebody and some 335's in the rear either... sure this is tons of power but putting it down is also a must... else all you'll get is a rolling smoke machine

You can get all you need from a LS2 and be at 3500 OR LESS!The reason I think it hasn't caught on big because the whole car scene is getting burnt out.So many people are over pricing aftermarket products .

Another aspect of it is. The issue with speedo,tach,a/c,power steering not working is another.Easy to fabricate, even easer to copy.So maybe this will open a door for others.
