RB weighs 100-150lbs more than a VQ or LSx.

The pic of the LS2 back on page 1 looks much cleaner in the engine bay than the RB. IMHO.

ya, i more mentioned the maggie for clearance.

i also had a vortech blower on my eclipse, (i know its a very different platform), but i didnt like the power delivery of the system. i would have preferred the instant torque of a roots.

i doubt he has enough space for a TT either so judging by the room he has between the valley of the motor its just screams maggie...

power deliver of a vortech on an eclipse and a big cube motor like the ls series is much different, like i said before, at equal boost levels, a centrifugal charger will make more power *everywhere* on an ls series

Just needs some weight reduction like carbon fiber doors ^_^ and you pretty much have the factory weight again. besides the RB26DETT can put out alot more power(with the addition of a bigger turbo and some bolt ons) than the ls2.

you know i was thinking of an RB26 swap at first but my concern after losing a VQ was ease of finding parts if something fails.....i mean where can i find an RB water pump? I know just about every store carries LS series parts...i wanted the car to be practical (i know it's a motor swap) and the RB has been done already...i wanted to be different and make crap loads of power...so i went with a V8....noone has ever done a chevy V8 before this...

and lemme tell u this....i'd do it all over again

nothing like knowing if something breaks all i need is $5 and a local pepboys to get back on the road

good luck finidng that RB part somewhere in middle america if you drive cross country!!!!

with the ls1 swap, u don't have to do weight reduction to get back to factory weight, and if u do weight reduction, that makes ur car even lighter. that makes the ls1 a better swap in the weight catagory

and on the power, i just have one thing to say: ignorance is bliss

Noah has the car gotten to you yet, or are you still looking for a transport?

With the heavier RB you're throwing off the balance of the car. Why mess up the handling of the car when you can put in a LS2 that weighs almost the same as the VQ? And you're last statement just reeks of fanboiism.

Why are people assuming that the LS2 weighs the same or close to the VQ? The LS2 is more than 100lbs heavier than the RWD VQ engine. The car will be heavier with the LS engine, not lighter.

I still love the swap and think the LS looks cleaner in there than the VQ ever did.

Damn that must suck, to have such a machine and not be able to enjoy it. I guess that the weather up there will not allow you to enjoy now.
