Why? This is going to be incredibly heavier than a TT setup with a buillt VQ. This poses the same problem as putting in the RB into the Z. Do some searching on G35Driver and here. The swap just isn't worth it.

It isn't going to be that bad. I don't think that unless you are into big time autocross it is going to really all of a sudden "ruin your Z" and make it handle like crap. Facing facts, they have put this motor in many different cars and still had great success and if comes down to doing it to just make a reliable 500whp to make your car feel fast then this would satisfy most people on this forum.

2JZ seems to work out nicely for LHD cars since the turbos are on the other bank compared to RBs.

uummm I do not think you are going to save much money if any doing this over a TT set-up now the shop can correct me if I am wrong but a DECENT 2JZ and 6 speed Getrag is gonna run you 6-8k....now I know you can find them for cheaper but the engine will probably be an Aristo, not a Supra's and the all the parts would be in questionable condition. Now throw in the other parts the shop has on there to include the Titan Tranny (Titan Motorsports I am assuming), labor etc Im gonna guess its costing more than 10g when all is said and done......

I wouldn't be interested at all. The turbo and downpipe look like they will melt half the stuff in the engine bay. I'll take the LSxx any day.

i wasn't talking about a 2jz, if you read my previous post i was talking about a rb25 which everyone thinks is worthless

Ok, so lets compare the cost involved with a built tt vq35 and single turbo 2jz swap:

Built TT VQ35

- Fully built VQ35 ($8-$10k)
- Clutch & flywheel to hold 600rwhp ($1.5-$2k)
- TT kit ($6-$8k)
- Engine management, gauges, etc. ($2-$4k)
- Labor for Everything ($5-$6k)
- Tuning ($500-$1k)
- Miscellaneous ($1-$2k)

Total: right around $25k on the low end of the scale

Stock block 2jz swap w/upgraded single turbo kit

- 2jz motor and tranny with 30-40k miles in good shape ($5-$6k)
- Clutch and flywheel ($1-$2k)
- Custom motor mounts/driveshaft/wiring ($3k-$4k)
- Engine managment, gauges, etc. ($2-$4k)
- Single turbo kit ($4k-$5k)
- Labor for everything ($4-$5k)
- Tuning ($500-$1k)
- Miscellaneous ($1-$2k)

Total: around $20k on the low side

I'm sure that I left a few things out, but you get the idea. Both will yield you right around 600-700rwhp easily. If you take it up a notch on the 2jz though, they are proven to hole over 900rwhp on a stock block . With a built 2jz you can have a 1000rwhp 350z for a lot less money then with a VQ.

I like both motors and personally don't have money for either (lol), just wanted to add my 2 cents....

Supras are just as close. Do they have a problem? Rhetorical question Woodcock....NO

Have you ever seen how close the turbos are to the firewall of a TT350z? They are JUST as close. The manifolds and hot side of the turbo (which are hotter then the downpipes) are about half an inch from the body. Uneducated desicions will get you nowhere.....

Except to make a 1000rwhp on a supra is alot more then you might expect. To make a legit all boost 1000rwhp on a DD you pretty much need a t6 frame turbo kit, which those kits are by no means cheap. Along with the clutch to hold that power is upwards of 3k. Hell the tilton is like 5k. I have 3 friends that own and know a crap ton about single turbo MKIVs. Ill ask them how much they think it will take. I know it is more then most people think tho.

As a matter of fact, yes, I have seen how close the APS turbos are to the body. And I stand by my statement, I am not interested in this, just like many others have stated. The OP posted this to gage interest, right?
The only uneducated opinion here is when some jerkoff calls someone else's opinion uneducated based on two sentences written on an auto forum. What a moron!

True, but the point for me is that you can have a 600rwhp 2jz 350z for cheaper then a 600rwhp build tt vq35 350z. Either setup is sick as hell though!

Thats fine, just your reasoning behind it was rather retarded and shows how uneducated you are about this topic.

Wow, the second paragrah just seals your ingnorance. I shouldnt even have to say anything, but im going to. Your opion about it "melting everything" (OOO NOE!!!11) was just idiotic and very uneducated. Truth be told it probably wont melt **** and would be fine. If it is such a worrisome, then it would be possible to either headwrap or thermal coat it. I believe you are the moron here sir!

I'll just leave you to your 'educated' opinions and let you have the last word.

Just a FYI, and if anyone wants to flame me about this go ahead because I stand behind my statement, but there is no reason that 95% of the people on this forum couldn't use the 2JZ-GE engine (which is cheaper and still robust) with the getrag tranny or if its a drag car you want stuff a turbo 400 in there.

Yes, the 2JZ-GE is higher compression but it will save some money and you can still push 400whp with it (without adding a thicker headgasket to lower CR) and run some very good times.

My friends Probe with a 2JZ-GE in it and a turbo 400 tansmission that dynoed 412whp last week:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=d1NEQeAfdSQ

The Probe weighs in at almost 3200lbs so it is relitively close to the Z weight.

The point that I am trying to make is that with a 2JZ the mojority of people would be satisfied.

Being relistic, the number of people who boost their car for fun outnumbers those who hardcore race. With that in mind, this is a very logical swap that could open some new doors in a different direction than the VQ.

In my opinion this swap has its purpose just like a TT VQ swap has its purpose.
