LOL, but it does seem like a bunch of people kiss your **** trying to get on the list. Not that your twin pump won't be bad ****, but I'd rather just pay cash for it.

this is great!! i really believe that with more testing and development, the vq could be on the same pedestal as the 2jz/4g63/lsx/rb26. more and more is discovered every day on the motors, and amazing breakthroughs including 650+ rwhp on greddy 18g's, 1000+rwhp z's, insane (for a v6) n/a whp numbers, etc. i can see the z being the next supra for the newer generation of tuners

well the weight differences are gonna be extreme, yes, your comparing iron blocks to aluminum blocks. the only other downside besides the weight is..ours have to be sleeved to reach power levels these can on stock internals. i like the idea, its original and unique, but we all knew damn well that sooner or later this was going to happen. i wanna see this in action. i can predict already... 12.7 @ 165 i really wanna see a dyno graph of this though. interested to see when the 42r spools. i asume your going to raise the rev limitor? alot of the supra guys can run up to almost 8k, leaving more time for boost. otherwise full spool at 5k, and shifting at 7k is lame. its like a honda

You should have used better words in your thread on Supra Forums. I'm not personally offended but as you can see Doug was pretty pissed. You also might not want to fuel even more Supra elitism over there. Soon there will be 350Z's eating and challenging Supras left and right.

Just wondering what brought you to this conclusion since it has been stated that this swap actually brought the car closer to 50/50?

You are right, but it's fun to play devil's advovate sometimes. Both of these boards have awesome people, in that they are the absolute Type A personalities of our society. Being an outsider on any of these boards, you have to come in with something that will peak their interest. Both board members are naturally competitive which breeds business for me and all other performance shops.
Yes, you are right that there will probably be more fast 350s than Supras in the future, but as of right now it still is the other way. Though I don't know how long its been since I've seen a MK4 that hasn't been pieced together from 2 or 3 cars.
I think I need to even the playing field and do a TT sleeved VQ in a MK4.

People must not read because they already stated that when they weighed the TT VQ plus AT trans it weighed 89 pounds more than the 2JZ and getrag tansmission +Turbo.

I know for a fact that the VQ auto was the biggest culprit of this. This box is a good 50-60 lbs heavier than the V160. The double cast turbo mannies did not help too much either in the weight department.

I think I'm going to corner weigh a 6MT model this week for comparison.

damnit, i shouldnt skip pages!! but as for the 50/50 weight distribution, nisan designed it to be 47/53, so that when braking into a corner, the extra weight is shifted forward helping to counter understeer. i wonder if this will knock off the balance a bit.

You know, you've got a point there when it comes to corner loading. My shop specializes in corner weight adjustment with driver and corner loading. Most of the race or circuit cars we do actually get a 51/49 split if we can manage it. The reason a Z is 53/47 is that it uses light springs in stock form. Move up to some heavy kilo springs on coilovers and you want that number to be close to 51/49 if you are doing a lot of accelerating out of corners. We load the left or right side heavier depending on if there are more left or right banks... Corner dialing takes a lot of patience and time and am always amazed to see how much of it my guys have when they do it.

Well just becasue something is 50/50 does not mean that is is in the ideal position. It only means that if the car was split in half that 50% of the total weight is in front and 50% is in back. The 2JZ has a higher center of gravity and is 3 cylinders longer. I've driven a S14 with an RB25 swap and through the corners the balance of the car has been destroyed.

This is why I positioned the motor so deep in the engine bay. We never just toss a motor into a chasis. Even if it means making motor mounts from scratch. The rear of the motor sits 7.75 inches lower, the middle 6 and the front 4.25 than a VQ. Albeit a VQ is all alum, this is why we got the 2J as absolutely low as possible. The top deck of the block on the 2J is lower than half way down the sloped decks of the VQ surfaces.

Kudos! You brought up a good point, in which we invested a good bit of time.... I was wondering how long before someone had mentioned this !
This is something you learn over time ... no matter how good of a swap you do, if you have a motor with a high center of gravity and don't address it, you will be very sorry.

I understand your point and it has merit. However, I don't think your example is a reasonable comparison as it is a completely different chassis and different engine. Similar but not exactly the same for comparison for many reasons.
