Where can I find general information on the Pros/Cons of True Dual exhaust systems?

I don't think that there is a down side in a "properly" designed dual exhaust. You cannot simply stick larger pipes on an exhaust system and hope for gains, it just will not happen. There is alot more to the exhaust than just "pipes". Do a search on Google for items like "exhaust scavenging" or "collector design" and you will see.There is a reason that companies like Hooker and Borla exist...

I have always heard that true duals do not flow as well as a single large pipe. Makes sense to this aerospace engineer.

That would depend on the system in question but, I would not use it as a general rule of thumb.
