Default Oil Pan Install Questions

I'm going to be installing an oil pan on my G35 and had a few questions. BTW, I'll be going vortech or turbo in around 1 year from now. I'm pretty sure I'll get one of the tuner kits when I do, for upgrade reasons, so whichever kit I purchase probably won't come with a oil pan spacer. I'll need increased oil capacity and a way to tap the oil pan and I want to do as much as I can myself to get ready for FI.

1. How is the APS oil pan? From what I've read it seems really good quality and design, but expensive.

2. How difficult is the install? I've installed catback exhausts all by myself before, taken my intake manifold and plenum apart, change my own oil, installed CAIs and so forth. I'm not an expert, and this seems pretty easy, but I wanted to check first with someone who's done it.

3. What kind of seal would I need to get for this? It looks like some type of rubber or silicone, which I don't beleive comes with the oil pans.

The aps oil pan is very nice but why spend all that money.Get a AAM oil pan spacer,it comes with the block off plug,s untill you go fi.The oil pan is tiny on our car,s and very easy to take of and replace,i just used a silicone gasket maker for mine as i am getting ready to replace the greddy oil pan.I am going with the AAM oil pan spacer with the stock oil pan and the greddy line kit from AAM.

^ Thanks. I was wondering about the "supposed" reduction in oil surge under race/track conditions also, specfically if there was any real benefit from the baffle design.

Let me rephrase my question.

Hypothetically, what would be the best oil pan/spacer if someone was going either with a Vortech SC or one of the various turbo kits 1 year down the road? And assume that money is no object (well it kinda is, but.... just play along). What is the best all around oil pan/spacer?

I like the AAM design the best!

It works, and it has all the ports you'll need whether you are going vortech, single turbo, or twin turbo!
