Are the JWT S7 cams still the only aftermarket cams available for the RevUp VQ35? The JWT write-up on these cams seems to imply that they were designed for a turbo motor.

I'm interested in a set of NA cams for a RevUp engine.

 

My understanding is that for a revup, the JWT S7 262 Cams are the only ones that are compatable. I haven't researched FI revup cams as I do not plan on going FI... I think the FI guys run stock cams & heads and just stuff more boost in there for more whp. Lol~

My understanding is that the JWT S7 is the only RevUp cam set available... that includes normally aspirated and turbo cams.

I've heard that Crower made a set of cams for the VQ350HR in the Z. You'd think they would make a set for the RevUp.

Yes. Very much. I've heard 20+ hours for install of both banks...

 

well they pretty much have to take apart a good portion of the engine... so yes

 

I did a bit of reading at the Jim Wolf Technologies web site and found a few interesting articles. One page shows all the JWT cams available for the VQ35 including RevUps. It shows the S7R, but also shows a more radical C8R. Here's a link to that page:

JWT's literature seemed to imply that the S7R was a "Turbo" cam. I was curious whether the S7R would work well for a NA VQ and also curious why the C8R was not listed anywhere on the JWT site. I decided to call Jim Wolf Technology and ask them.

I was surprised to be passed back to a technician without much waiting. After a few questions, the Tech asked if I would like to talk to one of their engineers in the camshaft department. I said yes, of course. As you would suspect, he was very knowledgeable on camshafts and also had quite a bit of racing experience. As it turns out, I don't really have enough of the specifics involved to make a camshaft choice at this time.

We talked for quite a while and one interesting conversation took place. I was curious whether the S7R would work well around 8,000 RPM, so the engineer said, wait a minute, I'll ask the fellow that designed the S7R. He came back and said that the designer said it would, but if I was that concerned about making power up to 8,000, I should just get the C8R. Interesting.

There is a lot more to it than the few notes I've written above. I just thought a few of you might be interested in some of this information. There are no notes about the C8R on JWT's web site. That is by design. JWT wants anyone considering the C8R to talk to them before they buy it.

 

Wow, that C8R is a 272... Pretty aggressive. It won't idle very well, but I bet it makes great power.
