Your Thoughts: Modification Roadmap
Hey Guys,
After doing some re-search and finally saving some money up
I decided to come up with a road map to modifying the 350Z. Otherwise, I will just keep spending money. So in general:
Goal: 200rwkw (268rwhp)
Mods ToDo:
1) Cat Back Exhaust (HiTech) ~ 16hp
2) Extractors (Crawford HFC) ~10hp
3) Headers (not sure) ~10hp
4) Intake (Pop Charger) ~6hp
5) Plenum (Motordyne) ~11hp
6) ECU (Osiris UpRev) ~5hp
Calculated Total Gain: 44rwkw (60rwhp)
My questions/looking for suggestions:
7) Should I be looking at any other brands?
8) Is there a way I can cut cost?
9) Is this going to help me reach 200rwkw (268rwhp)
10) Am I missing anything?
Thanks Guys,
Keith

Couldn't get the right answer.

uh oh, not more ricer math (at least u didn't quote hp increase for a grounding kit though).
Very unlikely you see 16 whp gain from a non-true dual cat back exhaust. Might as well get some underdrive pulleys as well to help squeeze out as much hp as you can.
To the op, what year and model is your z?

2005 Track Z (non-rev up with brembos)
I think that equates to your 2005 enthusiast model. Not really sure.

with those parts you will be shy of hitting your goal.... I had all that you listed and more and hit something like 256 on a dynojet when I was N/A.
The parts you have listed might net you a total of 20-25 peak whp. Not all HP gains are at peak and thus will not compound on top of each other for your "calculated total gain" of 60 rwhp. If you want to hit your goal, look into getting a lightened flywheel and clutch assembly and 3.9 final drive. Forget about the headers, they aren't worth the trouble or cost to install. Ditch the HFC in favor of test pipes. Other than that, I really can't recommend anything in terms of bolt ons. If you must hit your goal, you might have to resort to a set of cams

Yup 6 speed.
I have to stick with the HFC since test pipes are illegal in AUS.
Will look into the 3.9 final drive.

Since you don't say what engine you have - If you're a revup, you'll want the MREV2 + spacer. If not a revup, then just a spacer. If an HR, there's not much for those yet in the way of modding.

kfresh,
you are in australia, get an APS system right from the source. Much more fun than bolt ons
+1 on the lightweight flywheel and 3.7\3.9 fg. Might not help on the dyno very much by will help on the sreet/track. +1 also on the aps tt if u want f/I. I'd even consider getting the aps exhaust over the hi-tech.

Then with all that additional power you have to look at new wheels, suspension, clutch etc.
Not Cheap.

k, I seriously doubt 60hp. But we would just love for you to do a 'before' dyno, bolt on your components or something like those below, tune, and do an 'after' dyno. My guess is no more than 50hp. I will Paypal $1 toward this effort, payable after you post the dyno sheets (1 down, about 4499 to go). Good luck!
Stillen intake.................2hp
Crawford headers..........10hp
AAM metal HFCs.............6hp
Plenum (upper) APS.......5hp
Plenum (lower) MREV-2...10hp
JIC Y-pipe.....................2hp
