Default hey! Hey!! HEY!!!

I use Castro Syntec 5w50 and although some might think it's a waste to change it at 3k I still do to ensure that my oil is fresh. Some people told me that I should wait to change it at 5-7k. Still changing it at 3k.

I changed my factory oil out with Castrol Syntec 5w-30 with Mobil 1 oil filter at 1,500 miles. I changed it again at 5,000 miles with the same products. It's running like a champ.

i know that it is common to hear that the reccomended time to change is every 2000 miles or every 3 months. If its been 3 months, and youve driven about 500 miles...should the oil still be changed? i have catrol syntec 0w-30 btw

this should be required reading before anyone posts a question about oil.

From what I see, everyone is changing there synthetics more often then I change my regular oil. Nissan only recommends you change it every 2800 miles.

You should only use Synthetics in your Z.

As far as the "best", it's pretty opinion based. Some major ones are Mobil and Amsoil. There is also one called Motul that not many people know about...I haven't personally used it but MANY Z owners LOVE it and SWEAR to it. Oil is pretty much oil in my view though.

3k is way too soon, 5-6k should be the minimum change interval.

where are you getting your information? You are way off. please refer to the link that has been posted showing Used Oil Analysis of several dino, blends and synthetic oils. Dino oils have out performed synthetics on more than one occasion.

edit: added the link so you can read up a little on oils.

I'm currently using Amsoil 0w30. It's a little thin and consuming more than usual. I think next time around, I'll switch to 10w30 or 10w40. A lot of the guys are running 15w50 in built engines... Have Amsoil in the Diff & Tranny - couldn't be happier with their products.

Just outta curiosity why not use factory reccomended 5w30?? I've had amsoil high performance 5w30 in since i got her, i'm FI and never had any oil loss at all between oil changes.

P.S. +1 on Amsoil FTW!!!
