Default Transmission Fluid question

Ok, so I've read several threads on changing the transmission fluid. I've decided to go with Redline Oil, and all of the threads suggest mixing the MTL (70W80) and the MT-90 (75W90) oils together, to yield a weight closer to the 75W85 weight our transmissions use.

My question is this... is it really necessary to mix the two oils together? I'm asking because I figure that the MT-90 fluid, which is 75W90 should be good enough by itself.

Thanks.

Sorry, guys.

I called Redline. They stongly suggest mixing the MTL and the MT-90 together. It won't EXACTLY blend to the 75W85 that the transmission requires, but it's very close. They said that I can get away with using the MT-90 by itself, but it's better to be as close to the required weight, as possible.

That being said, I'm gonna blend the MTL and MT-90 oils together.

Sorry I don't have my manual anymore but how many quarts does our transmission take? Also did you mix 50/50?

about 3 1/8 qts, as mentioned. I haven't put it in yet, but I will be mixing it 50/50. Out of town on family emergency right now, so it's on my to-do list when I get home.

I considered Royal Purple, but after hearing everyone say it sucks, I chose Redline.

j/k..

I couldn't find any concrete evidence that RP was bad, but assumed there was some truth to it, if several people said it.

One size fits all? They didn't reformulate it, the bottle still says 75W-90. You sound like an AMSOIL dealer.

Even if he is, there are plenty of people that speak highly of AMSOIL so it really doesn't make a difference.

You don't see any distinction between the honest feedback of an end user and the biased sales pitch of a vendor? Just trying to balance the equation dude, chill out.
