+1 on the TPS re-learn procedure.

 

Did it like 3 or 4 times already and still nothing changed. Maybe I'll give the JWT method a try. It will be cheaper than buying a new throttle body should I mess that up.

 

Long tube intakes cause the VQ to stall. It happens on the G35s as well. Remove it and it will go away.

 

My Injen doesn't stall out my car.

 

neither does mine. The TB reset/relearn procedure did wonders for my stalling issues after the installation of the Spacer. I thought i got it to work 2-3 times but later found out the cycle didn't complete. If you ran the TB reset, when you started your car and reved the engine the Service Engine Soon light should have flickered back at you at certain points in the RPMs. If that didn't happen, then you didn't get it figured out.

+1 on having another problem. If you did get all your reset procedures to work, then you have another problem. Anything from a cracked hose to a leaky gasket. Improper installation of the spacer, something air related. All though my '03's idle is nothing close to steady, i dont stall. Good luck with things.

have you
1. removed all your air intake mods back to stock to see if the idle is still messed up?
2. checked for damage on MAF sensor/test voltage resistance
3. the throttle body is all software ecu controlled, so hardware changes will only make things worse. +1 on adam's comments. there is something fundamentally wrong with the car or the install of the mods.

 

When the unichip is removed it dosen't stall at all, but then I have to worry about leaning out. So whats worse occasional stalling or runing lean?

you need to get it tuned...if it was tuned, it needs to be tuned again, with specific emphasis not only placed on wot (that's not the hard part) but overall driveability as well

 

Some cars act differently. But it is a known fact that the long tube intakes have caused the Z and Gs to stall.

Remove the intake and put the stock one back in and I bet your stalling problem goes away. It's free to try.

 

No one was talking about tuning folks. We were discussing the problem at hand and what the cause is. And it is his long tube CAI. Without tuning they have shown to cause the VQ to stall.

Turbulent air is the cause with a intake, and the MAF readings get screwed up then the car dies.

 

Unfortunatly I bought the car with the CAI, so I don't have the stock tube or filter box.

 

I have a stock Z intake box for sale with filter....less than 1000 miles on it

 

wrong. the dealer can do it for any year OTHER than 04.5s. they can do 03 04 05 06 they usually charge one hour labor to raise it up. if you know someone with a cipher, it will work also.

 

Thats good to know, cause I was under the impression that the 05 could not be bumped. So if anyone down here in south Fla (MIA, FTL,) have a cipher and can help me out I'll through some cash your way.

So you have a consult and you can bump my idle? I have an 05 and I didn't think it could be done with a consult. PM me your price and we'll hook up.

 

Just removed the throttle body and drill a 1/8" hole in it. Make sure you are pretty gentle because you dont want to bend the plate and try to avoid drilling it way on the outside. Once you are done just re-install your throttle body. I disconnected my battery over night to reset the throttle learning curve and ECU.
