Default Short Shifter...worth it...?

the one thing i never really thought about doing to my car i am now considering...ive got so little left to buy for it since i already have everything, that now im just buying random stuff

i.e....a short shifter. i hear a lot of ppl have had issues with the B&M short shifter...but what about the other ones. i dont see very many ppl on here running a short shifter...more then likely because our stock shifters are pretty short to begin with.

so what do you guys think? worth it or not?

I have the Nismo Adjustable short shifter on my car, which is similar to the Stillen and I believe Mossy short shifters, and can not be any happier. It feels much smoother, and cleaner as far as shifts go.

I always felt that the stock shift was a bit notchy, and just didn't like the overall feel of it.

I would try one of those before you count them out. Using the BM one as reference I think is a bad mistake though. I have seen my fair share of poor reviews on that short shifter.

may sound silly, but how the hell do you adjust the Nismo ss???
I've had it for 6+ months, but never seemed able to get it to adjust any.....

Rogue is the one short shifter I consistently heard good things about.

I had the nismo adjustable on my car for a few months. Its not on the car anymore. ALthough it was crazy how short the shift distance was, It was very sloppy feeling compared to stock. I could put it in any gear and I could still wobble it around a good amount whereas when the stock one is in a gear, it feels very crisp and stiff in its place like i would expect a high quality shifter to do.

I was wondering if I was the only one with this problem. After feeling what a stock shifter felt like again, I think i'm going back to stock soon.

My opinion on short shifters. . . . .
They are used to make up for lack of shifting skills. IMO no need to replace. its not like its an F150 shift that sits 3ft up.

What does shifting ability have anything to do with it? A short shifter would actually be harder to shift as it takes more effort.

I have a Revo SS. Honestly this is the only car I've driven with a SS, but I like it.

+1...never understood the whole "shifting skill" argument. youre either fast or not, depends on how bad you wana slam your transmission around. skill isnt really involved.

i have b&m and don't have any problem with it.
some people reported that the b&m shifter with stock **** results in rattling, but not mine. I think it all comes down personal preference and since the change in feeling with ss is diffcult to be explained in words, I suggest that you make a decision based on trial & error.

I have the 350EVO ss and would not go back to stock. I have the earlier model that has a ballbearing bushing and makes a nice click when you put it in gear ... no slop or excess movement. This is a solid racing shifter so it does transfer some vibration from the trans on occassion. I have to be pushing pretty hard though before I hear anything.
