A few Dynoplots VQ35DE, Revup, Cams, Plenums - Info
The VQ35DE, not a dinosaur. In this post I will pull together my dyno findings and opinions of what seems to work well from what I have seen over the past years. This is all limited to naturally aspirated horsepower for this post. I use a Dynapack this is my dyno and these are my numbers. No, I don't take my cars to dynojets for comparison but I do know that cars are within 6-12 whp to the Altered Atmosphere Dyno that is around the corner. The original inspiration for this post was a forum member: M6SXTZ he was wondering if he should a Revup motor or keep his non Revup.
Quick background on "The Pack" they show horsepower in at the HUB often referred to as wheel hp. These are not Flywheel Numbers. I will also not argue about final output numbers, that is not the point of this post.
I'll use my 2004 Enthusiast 350z as a base.I will also use my highest EVER base number 256 whp 226 ft. lbs. rather than my lowest number. The comparison car with the cams is a 2005 350z non rev up. What I want you guys to notice is the Power Band, where peak horsepower is made and difference between them.
For our dyno setup we use pretty large industrial fans on the front of the car to help cool the car while on the dyno. Whatever here are the plots. I will be adding dyno plots as we go but this is the first one that I figured was important see.
As a default all tuned cars were using a UTEC.

nice stuff! any vids? 56whp is an insane gain, how aggressive are those cams?
few questions:
Can we get a better aspect ratio on the screen/printout? Why doesnt the graph show from 0k-7k or so, I like seeing the whole picture.
Can we get an overlay of tq vs hp. Cant seem to get the match point at 5250 rpm to line up right.
Another thing, are the trq

Dynapacks you define the start and stop point. I typically set it for 1500 rpm to 6500 rpm. That is the whole picture! As these cars used stock rev limiters. Dynapack's apply SAE correction to the horsepower only which if I used uncorrected numbers they wouldn't mean much except on that day. Defeating the purpose of SAE.

Stock pistons also? Did you upgrade the valvetrain? Those are incredible gains.
you said this is a revup?...or just using a revup plenum? was under the impression that only GTM and JWT made cams that work with the variable exhaust valve timing..

yeah but in the post it says VQ35DE, Revup, cams, plenums....so is the high power car a revup? or did he have a revup plenum on the 04 to produce that high number after modding or somethin..

intresting. im DE doing a tomei 264 install now. ill post my overlays from (1) stock (2) full bolt on utec tune (3) full bolt on/264/jwt springs/utec tune. i know the motordyne guys are interested about the results. i do use a dynojet and it will be the same one on all three runs.
blacktuner...did you do you know what the exact hp/tq gains where from the cams alone?

I will say that 264's are probably not going to have the same top end as the 268's but should still do well. I have a set of 272's coming for my HR that will be another post
an additional 20-25 hp would put me at the 300 mark. i am going to play around by bumping up the redline but i would be happy with a 20 hp gain with tuning.
how much tq do you think cams are good for...im sitting with 265 ft lb right now
so 280 would make me happy, i have to keep up with those fat goats you know
