Default Here we go again!! (reflash question)

The search engine has blown a head gasket (I can't find the answer).

What makes a rev-up a rev-up? Not that I want one, it's just my upcoming 2004.5 VQ wants to be reflashed and I have the option to set the redline.

Is it safe to flash the redline to 7k? I know it probably won't make much more power after factory redline but I know it seems to cut-in too soon according to articles.

Oh, I've been thinking of using either UTEC, Alterted Atmosphere, or ... forgot the other brand.

You mean vs a non revup model?

A: Rev-up Motor has higher peak HP, lower peak torque, and a higher redline (7000RPM)
Non-rev-up Motor has lower peak HP, higher peak torque, and a lower redline (6600RPM)

Rev-Up Motor has variable Intake and Exhaust timing.
Non-Revup Motor ONLY has variable Intake timing.

You can tell which one you have by looking at your redline on your tachometer.

Sweet, thanks.

But, is it safe to reflash to 7k?

From what I've read, stock internals VQ35 is good up to ~7200 before many people start to worry about rod bolts. I know of a person that used to rev a stock VQ35 (FWD, nonrevup) to ~8k without problems...but not exactly recommended for a daily basis, if you get my drift.

I'd say go ahead and flash the higher limit.

I think 7k will be good then. I have to remember I'm not driving my 2007 Civic Si 6MT anymore (8100rpm). Gutless little wonder.

I won't be planning on major mods except:
plenum spacer
pop charger intake
Nismo exhaust (or Borla)
3.9 final ratio
