quick question... when I get my Procharger or GReddy TT in a few months, will my rwhp gains be negated because I use today's dynos as my base for measuring the gains from FI?

Importriders, McDuck, thanks for going the extra mile by getting these expensive before and after dynos for the community. You gentlemen ROCK!
Don't forget Throbbing_Zon and maserom. They also did the before and after dyno thing...even though throbbing_Zon's were free. Lucky bastard. Yes, after all these before and after dyno results no one can argue that the exhaust doesn't make power.

Yes, it is the sad truth of the internet world as I have said many times before. I am also a victim after posting my dynos of the borla exhaust. But I dont think anyone is discrediting mcducks time and effort. As a matter of fact, his effort is very much appreciated by everyone. And I strongly believe that his dyno is valid proof of gains. Its just that the time variable is to large to ignore and should be taken into consideration. Thats it...take it as you will, but it is no way a shot at mcduck.
Yes McDuck, I surely didn't mean to discredit your #'s what so ever. I was actually thrilled when I saw them! Cause I believe my whp was still building when we had to stop at the 4th post Borla pull, free pulls only go so far you know. So I just want to say I'm happy you pulled out those results and i know you love your system just as much as I love mine. Ya, I think their was more power there for me, maybe even up to 14 or 15! I don't think my 10.6 gain would do for the car what I'm feeling. It's starting to sound meaner too by the way.

Thumbs up

MCDuck,
Thanks a bunch for your efforts!!!
The fact of the matter is, you were as scientific as possible working with a limited budget and resources. Not everyone has bottomless pockets and an open calender...so most can't be running to the dyno each day. Good method, good results, congrats.

Phillip at Injen, you should stay out of this for sure. I agree with what others are saying...I seriously considered the Injen exhaust, but I just can't get over the looks of that thing! I sent pics of the installed Injen exhaust to an email list of car friends that I'm involved with...they are purely performance oriented. Every single one of them said the same thing, "if you drop weight, gain power, and it sounds good...get it...IF you can get over those ricer looks." I just can't drive around with those monstrous angled pipes under my car though. If the pipes were straight and less noticeable...I'd seriously consider it.

Hey Bonz! I think yours and mine shipped the same day... Maybe mine will show up tomorrow!

Anyway, I'm doing a baseline dyno on Saturday. Then install, reset ECU, break in a bit and probably dyno again on Tuesday. I can hardly wait for the gripers to complain that my results are invalid because they're three days apart.

I hope folks realize it takes time and money to do dynos, and the folks who have posted the numbers on here are doing it as a community service. I for one really appreciate the folks who have posted their nums!

Smile Hey McDuck

Actually I have a very stock car..

But when I have a few bucks, I'll definitly go with the Borla..

Heard an Ingen 350Z - sounded - like the car was malfunctioning..

Thank You Sir, for presenting us those expensive Dyno results.

Cheers Amy -

On a related note...

last night... long, straight, dark road... windows down... 70ish degrees... cruising at about 65mph.

Dropped the Z to third and opened it up... thru 4th into 5th up to about 125mph.

The Borla sounded freakin' unbelievable!!!! If you have the Borla dual and have not done this kind of run yet, you need to. Well worth every dime I spent!!!

Can't wait to hear it. Let's plan an August hook-up with some of the other NC guys.

Unfortunately due to cash flow issues, my first upgrade will be a NISMO shift ****. But, rest assured people. I will make sure I dyno the before and after results on the same frigging day.

Thanks and keep up the good work!

Maybe its me, but spending $1,000+ for an exhaust system that gives you only 10-20hp more is kind of a waste to me. You probably think you feel fast, but I think I would rather spend more for a supercharger setup because I know I will be fast.

I would like to start of by saying thank you very much for the time, and money that you spent MCduck . I have one question that someone eluded to before. The ECU. I have gone through the TechnoSquare ECU Thread and there is a section about how after adding a mod the ecu
goes to the feedback value that's stored in the fuel/ignition timing maps to try to put it back stock levels.. Chebosto
A few others have posted about this as well. I think what would be interesting to see is a dyno done after 500-1000 miles with the Borla Exhaust to see if our ECU's are doing this.I have not done anything to My Car yet, and this exhaust and the Nismo suspension are the only things that I have considered

dtblktrack - I'll be happy to dyno again in a few hundred miles if some wants to pay for it! Seriously... as someone else said, money and time don't come easy. I'm satisfied that the result for my car are accurate and will not be dynoing again until an FI kit is on my car.

FlyingScot - DUDE! Come out to the cookout this weekend at Jordan Lake. The car.. the exhaust... it'll all be there. And on a different note, I hope things go well enough this weekend to do just what you suggest... have another Charlotte/Raleigh group event later in the summer.

Finally...
Maybe its me, but spending $1,000+ for an exhaust system that gives you only 10-20hp more is kind of a waste to me.
Well, we all paid approximately $30K for a car that has 240rwhp from the factory (well, everyone but me. I got the runt, remember?). By my math that comes out to around $104 / rwhp. Now, if the Borla averages a gain of 10rwhp for the masses and costs around $800 delivered & installed... well that's $80 / rwhp.

A comparative steal compared to what you have already paid Nissan!

If you're gonna SC it, you better open up the exhaust a little, and that means something like the Borla. I got my Borla for $610 plus $40 shipping -- well under your $1,000 estimate. I think the Borla at that price is a steal deal -- excellent craftsmanship.

I'm not here to fight against Borla as I'm sure they make a good product. I'm just saying the results are invalid and would be considered invalid by many other companies and magazines.
yeah, they need to be back to back, like this one with the injen intake!
