Thumbs down Suppose some idoit left their oil cap off for 250 miles...

and possibly some free-floating crap in the air could have fallen into the oil fill hole in its absence... any reason to change the oil early or would he just be OCD for even thinking that?

Check you oil level. It could have spit some out. I wouldn't worry too much about the dirt unless you were driving through the Mojave.

Not much will come out for NA motors unless you floor it all the time. OCD or not, what's an oil change going to cost you, $25? Change the oil/filter - it's a no-brainer.

effing eh....there would be a trail of oil and a hefty bill from the municipality who was chasing behind the oil trail with cat litter.

I read minds.

Just remember to put the oil cap back on. Hypothetically speaking.

At least when you change your oil, you'll get +15whp.

Synthetic? Nah... If you think you may do the 'oil breather' mod again, use dino oil and cut your operating costs. BTW, you haven't topped off your brake fluid reservoir lately, have you? That would make a real mess.
