Default pinion help

Does anybody know if there is suppose to have any play on the pinion? I have about 0.0800 play. Is that normal? I tried sinching the pinion nut but no luck. I don't remember if it had that much play since I disassemble it 2 weeks ago.

You need what is called proper "Backlash".

Dont tighten down the pinion nut, you will overload the Brg by putting too much pressure on the Crush Sleeve.

The nut is there to load the brg and shims are used to set the backlash.

If its too tight it will howl....Fukcer gets HOT and expands !!!

Why are you concerned ? Is it making noise ?
