Default pulstar plugs dyno run RESULTS..

Hi All,

Today ZCarGarage in San Jose, California installed the much talked about Pulstar spark plugs on my 2006 350z Enthusiast automatic transmission car.

Well, I'll let the results speak for themselves, see enclosed dyno sheet. RunFile019 is with the stock plugs, RunFile027 is with the pulstars.

I gained about 4 HP on the dyno as well as the 3-4 in torque. Rob had to adjust the unichip since the plugs really do lean out your fuel mixture...BTW, car had 22k on it. Also, the idle seriously smoothed out...

Anyways, thanks to Rob at ZCarGarage, he rocks! He totally took care of me and has done all the work on my Z. They do great work there and very professional. Fast service, too.

For reference, my car has the Motordyne MREV2 intake, 5/16th spacer, K&N Drop in air filter, Unorthodox racing lighter pulley kit (3pc), STRUP ceramic headers, and a custom tuned unichip. Everything else is 100% stock.

seems like you ran quite a few dynos to get those results... can you overlay all the dynos that were done?

just read the article in Modified magazine about these. if it gains 5 horsepower THROUGHOUT the powerband (not just here and there) I'd say itd be worth it...its a 120 bucks...

The car feels great, much better than stock...A lot more mid range power..

Yep, going to get exhaust next, once I see how the Bassani x pipe does on the dyno...I dont want to drop $1000 on an exhaust if it makes not that much HP...But, the sound of the bassani makes me want it...

After the Bassani, then i might go Vortech...

Are you comparing best before to best after? You ignored Motormouth's question but I am also curious why it took you so many dyno runs.

And you say a lot more midrange power, not even your dyno shows that.

Those results IMHO are anything but conclusive. I have seen bigger power increases on a dyno simply from cooling down the intake pipe.

Curious...how do plugs lean out the mix? That makes no sense. How did you measure your AFR during the pulls? Clip in the exhaust?

For the sake of accuracy, since you adjusted your tune between the pulls, I'd say your results are foo bared. It's not apples to apples anymore. You can't change settings between different tests and then call them comparable like that.

+1 on the above

WHat you did, including retuning resulted in an botched test. It doesn't show jack imo.

Someone post the srt4 test; that's the only ideal and fair test including pulstars that I have seen.

Ive seen bigger "gains" from just letting a car cool off, these results are inconclusive like somebody mentioned. Also, who tests something and doesnt even take the car to redline?

I see two things for the future of this thread...
1) Someone posting a "fail" picture
2) getting locked

I don't have the other dyno pulls, thats all I have here, or I would post them - I'm not trying to hide anything.

And, lastly, I'm letting you guys draw your own conclusions. Me personally, no, i wouldnt spend the $120 or whatever for the plugs. however, my gas mileage did go up about 1MPG.

To each their own.

Good eye berto I didn't even notice that it didn't redline.

I don't see a need to lock the thread... I think anyone with a brain can see what this dyno is worth ...

200-215? Err, no they don't. All DEs should dyno 235-240WHP. There's something wrong with your car.

Stock 06 5AT 240WHP/237TQ
