Default HR head gaskets and bolts on a DE

I was looking at jwt website and found that they recommend hr head gaskets and bolts on the DE engine. I have to buy new bolts for my rebuild so thats a no brainer. They have a little picture of the machine work you have to perform. My question is has anyone done this and do you have better pics of the machine work required. I do like the idea of better head bolts at nissan oem prices. Heres the link

but

is it worth it over an hks gasket or a cosworth or a cometic gasket?

probably not and if youare jstu saving 100-200 on a build engine on a gasket......then well....

+1, with the affordability of the HKS 4 ply gaskets, I can't see this as a spot to save a few bucks on a rebuild.

Interesting info though.

Just to confirm 1cockyZ's findings are true. I was looking over the parts manuals and the part numbers on the headers are the same from 2003-08. I have an 08 model and have been looking for other avenues.
Here are some pictures so you can see for yourself:

Just to entertain anyone who thinks I just want to save money on a rebuild I am building a high revving N/A not a boosted engine so these parts would be great as far as function. I am really intrigued by the cooling benefit for the head. They are $27.46 on courtesy parts each. Those hks ones are over $300. Then as an added bonus the HR head bolts are a $1 cheaper a piece than the DE bolts. I have to buy these items anyway and if I can buy oem parts that are better and cheaper. But seriously back on topic anyone ever see or have pics of this machine work, I understand the coolant now has to up and make a left or right instead of straight up into the head.

this is getting to be a new trend for a cheap easy gasket from what i can tell. seems to hold up better than the DE and unless youre pushing like 20+ PSI you dont really need more than the HR gasket and studs. obzezzed, it looks like youre NA, so either gasket is fine for you, just get the cheaper one

I have not got my engine back from the machinist yet. But as far as doing this in the car it would take some creativity to cut away the cooling jacket without getting metal everywhere. But the gaskets are the same thickness. I will post pics of the machine work when I do it.

do you have better pics of the machining that needs to be done? I'm thinking of trying this for my heavy boosted build. I was using cometic gaskets but i would like to try the better cooling pattern of the HR gaskets along with my L19 studs.

Is it just the photo in the pdf, or do the head bolts actually have left hand threads?

They will both work fine. The HR have only been tested up to 600hp. Cometic gaskets are used even on the big builds at 1000 hp.

I have used cometic in both my engines and never had an issue.
