^^ Wondering the same thing. If all of that white smoke did disappear spontaneously, Julian@MRC was in fact correct with his diagnosis.

I hope we get a follow-up on this one.

EDIT: Well crap... my "^^" ended up on a new page. Anyway, I was repsonding to Davidv's good question. I am wondering about the Op's resolution.

Did you ever find out what the problem was? My '03 Z has the same problem. No overheating, and white smoke pours out of the exhaust only on startup and revving in neutral. Trying to get an idea of what I need to do to resolve this.

I doubt any of the rest of you likely have this problem, but whatever moron had my car before I bought it didn't ever change the oil by the looks of things. That said, the PCV system had to be flushed to get mine to stop smoking. I replaced the PCV valve and that wasn't even enough... the flush stopped the problem though!

Do you have oil mixed in your coolant res? Or coolant on your dipstick?

Nothing more aggravating than an OP who asks for assistance then fails to follow-up.

My coolant and oil never mixed, but a Nissan tech told me that the valve stem covers have been known to need replacing on the 3.5 V6 engines, which could cause that to happen.

I do understand why you asked though.

But if water got int to MAF it could also cause problems. Check your MAF.

Haha, its a toss up here. Either its valve seals or the spark plug valve cover seals.

i just had this same thing happen the other day (white smoke for a second on start up). the Z sat for about a month. Last time I drove it, i washed it, and parked it...maybe drove it 3min each direction...then drove it that night for about 3 min in the rain. Start it up a couple of days ago (about a month after the above mentioned short/wet drives) and get white smoke for about 2 seconds that had a heavy fuel smell, then all was good. ran rough for about a second, then fine. any ideas?
