Short Shifter - just for comfort?
Just curious about a few parts. The B&M Short Shifter was the one I was looking at, but what does it improve? Everything we do to our cars should be to improve something, quicker shifts?

It allows for quicker shifts as it make the "throw" of each shift shorter. Just be careful how you install it. I had a Rogue Engineering short shifter and didn't align it correctly when I installed it the first time and it was always a pain to put into fifth gear.

I recommend the Nismo Adjustable short shifter. It is very smooth and it has 4 settings. The shortest will give you very quick and short throws /shifts where as the highest setting will making shifting as smooth as butter.

Have had the Rogue Engineering for quite a while and still lovin it.
I've read B&M have rattle noise issues after awhile.
As with any shifter install, you have to adjust the shift alignment plate to have smooth shifts concerning 5th and 6th.
That post install adjustment is a no brainer.

I had the B&M. Had a short shifter on my Prelude and loved it, so I wasn't used to the "long" throw on the Z, so I picked one up. Had the rattle issue, but also caused me to grind 2nd (the '03 tranny). Switched back to the stock shifter with a Nimso shift ****, and I wouldn't change a thing. No 2nd gear grind, and it's really plenty short for my tastes.
I would suggest using the money elsewhere.
