Would you get an ECU if there was a Core Exchange?

We arn't being forced to buy, but it does seem a bit expensive when other cars ECU's mods are taken into account.
However it is your work, but my thought is that the current cost makes it an attractive mod for competitors to tackle in the longer run. Perhaps consider the cost/volume issue ? After all if you have the market and the cost is reasonable, then whats the incentive for others to under cut you ? - nuf said from me.

If you have a product that no one else has, that is great. The problem with this particular product is that TS won't be the only one in town for long. So they will get some bites at this pricerange for sure, but then company X will come along and do it for half the price and what will happen then?? They will get a lot of business.
The smart thing for TS to do at this point would be to sell it for about half of what they are selling it for. They would flood and dominate the market before anyone else can get in. Since it is 100% profit, who cares if you only sell it for $300. At that price you would nearly everyone here standing in line for one. What equals more $600x100 or $300x1000?
Think of it this way. Say it cost $10,000 to do the ECU mapping and tune (I am sure that is more than generous). Once they sell 17 of them, they have recouped all of their costs. Now it is all pure profit in the till.
I'm thinking they probably have more than 70K invested, and you are crying about $100 bucks.
If its too much for you don't buy it. Its that simple. These guys are doing a service to the Z community, and you are on here complaining, cause you can. That is how you run off vendors from the forum.

raceboy,
When we first tested at Mid Ohio we were running a stock ECU.........Since then we have been developing many different aspects of the car.
The ECU alone was not worth 3.5 seconds but.......there are many things on our car that did come alive with the our tuned ECU.
There is huge differnce bewteen the ECU that went to Japan and the one that was tuned by Techno Square.
The TS one wins hands down.

Raceboy,
You've been in business since you were 22? Tell me, how did you figure out the price elasticity of demand without some market research? You're just assuming that the price drop will result in such a sharp increase in demand. What if its more like 100 units sold at $600 and 175 units sold at $300? Then what's better? There might not even be 1000 people that are in the market for an ECU upgrade of this nature. Maybe some people on the east coast do not want to incur the shipping charges. Or some people might not want to deal with warranty issues or such. There are a million variables that you just ignore in your analysis.
Furthermore, if you want me to bring Hondata to the table, then you're just outright wrong. No Hondata system is $250 with the ECU. True, the s100 system is $245, but that's the barebones that cannot be used on OBD-II cars. A good Hondata system, that is user tunable and boost capable costs $1000+.
Why are you hassling him about price? You have no claim here, residual or otherwise. Buy it or don't buy it.

And you know what, I would still say that selling 175 units at $300 is better because it gets the product out into the marketplace and gets people talking about it. Products like these are sold through buzz and word of mouth (that is all assuming the product is good and does as advertised in individual testing). The value of all that free advertising is invaluable as it can't be bought.
If business teachers are so great, why are they teaching instead of making money??? And back to the most basic concept of economics; supply and demand. If the demand is soo great as is claimed and the product is good, then nothing I say will matter, so what do you, or anyone else care what I say?

Im no Buss. major what so ever but I agree with Raceboy.. Iv been reading what he has been saying through a couple of diff threads now and I agrre with him 100%
We are not tring to be cheap but like he said we dont want to buy the ECU and a month later see a group buy for 450$
Cheb: Now your thinking. This idea is great cause it will give us the consumers an option that we could do. And let us choose weather to send the ECU for loaner or to just go with no car and just send it in..
** When will the G35 Coupe be ready?
** Will the price be the same??
** Will the performance gains be similar to the 350z??
And to the people of this forum that just say shut up stop complaining and just DONT buy it can now see how dumb they are as the miss the point that we try to make here with our posts. Example : Cheb's post right here in this thread.. He is tring to make it better for us so the product will take off because we are COMPLAINING!!!
