Default AC pulls the RPM of the engine up?

Hey guys I just realized something interesting about my 350z. If I turn on the AC, the idle rpm goes up from 850 to 1000. When I switch it off it drops back to 850rpm. Is this normal?

Yup, I've seen it happen in every car I've owned for the last 30 years. RPMs are bumped up, I assume to offset the extra load from the A/C compressor and fan.

I am curious about what rpm does your car have under Idle with AC on and Idle without AC on. Thx
