Dynoed my stock 2003 touring 350z on a mustang dyno.
was kinda disapointed mabey im just expecting to much from my Z but this is the results. (will post up sheet when i get a scanner later today.

1st run
184ft-lb 190 hp
2ed run
189ft-lb 194 hp

??? to me this sounds to low I was hoping fot at least 215hp and 205 torque any one have any input on this dyno or is this just correct and I'm just crazy? Also does my 18"rotas with Eagle F1 A/S have any thing to do with this???

I wouldn't rely on dyno's to give you real-world power evaluations.

If you really want to know if your car is doing fine, take it to the drag strip and post up some times.

Se that's the thing everyone has there own opinion on dynos and from what i have read and learned that mustangs dynos are the most accurate dynos out there.

depends on what you consider accurate. most accurate for tuning w/respect to street results? yes. most accurate numbers for comparing? only if you consider being able to make the dyno read damn near anything then yes, a mustang is accurate

thanks for the info but what I'm concerned about is loosing 50hpor so from the crank to the rear wheels?? is this normal i only have 21k on the car and don't really drive it hard..

who knows if anything is wrong, on a mustang it can read anything. operator probly put in the wrong factors

hmmmmm i dono? car runs fine. nothing wrong and feels like the same power since I bought it. Operator does a lot of Z car and even vq35 swaps in s13/14. used a weather machine to make it more accurate he says.?? the only thing I can say he didn't do was have a fan in front of the car.. I don't think that would even affect it that much.

A local spot had a Dyno day this weekend I went to with a bunch of friends. One of my buddy's has a stock 96 Z28 w/ over 140k on it. He dyno'd 287 to the wheels which I thought was high. Then another buddy of mine w/ a 03 Cobra with only a exhaust, Diablo chip & ported blower w/ stock pulley put down 488whp. At this point I was seriously doubting his "Mustang Dyno" readings seeing as I ran him and WALKED his *** w/ my 416 on a DJ. I didn't put mine up there b/c I didn't feel like waisting the $50, but he was really pushing the issue.

this has been discussed several times... dynamometers can show significantly different numbers based on the temperature, elevation, humidity level, settings, particular person running the dyno... there are too many variables to expect consistent results. a dyno is a tuning tool, its not meant to be a consistent measure of power output over several months. if you really want to compare the performance of your car, as well as your ability as a driver, hit up a track and compare your times with other drivers.

Positive. 96 LT1 M6. He ran a 1/4 mile run on the dyno and ran a 13.4 and thinks he's the **** now! lol

I do understand that but the weather will have no part in it if a weather machine is being used right??? So next time i run with mods he will be using the same setting he used the previous dyno. I did this to get a guess on Hp before and after mods.. IMO the right way to do modifications to a car. I know our cars are not that fast and not a lot of Hp but I didnt even break 200 wheel hp. I'm also not worried about being fast I know my car is as fast as any other 03 350z or even faster. I just wanted to know if these number have been seen before. thanks

Mustand Dynos, when they arent adjusted to read like dyno jets, are some of the lowest reading dynos out there.

Mustang Dynos read with respect to the vehicle attributes ( i.e. coefficient of drag, weight, etc.) that were entered prior to the dyno, not necessarily weather.

That is why they are typically 'all over the place'. The reason they take those factors into consideration is because they tune with a variable load with respect to vehicle speed. One can see where Cd & weight comes into play here.

I never said that.

Fact remains, if they used inaccurate values for your Cd & weight, what good are any other parameters, such as weather? Either way, I say get all the information that was inputted by the operator, from the operator. This way you wont be shooting in the dark and making assumptions.

I too will jump on the DJ bandwagon. It's best for comparing internet dynos, so don't forget the runfiles.

Either that or hit the track and remember to write down the DA for your particular track runs.

the cd was 12.9 and the weight input was 3500lbs??? not sure if this is correct but hes telling me that the mustangdyno has the information to input it itself. But he can change them if I wanted to next time.
