Default Gold Plenum?

Anyone ever paint their plenum gold? I'm thinking about getting mine painted gold but with a glossy finnish.
Can it be done?
How do you think it'll look?
Just go polished?

Of course it could be done, but I think it'd be pretty nasty looking. Bad nasty, not good nasty. Gold paint on anything IMO looks tacky.

if you went all out and created a gold color scheme in your engine bay, it MIGHT look good... if the car was red...?

why not? a ring would take more abuse then a plenum. I would think youd have to make a periodic schedule to clean it to stay on top of it.

maybe on the plenum... i mean go ahead and throw gold plating on an engine component of your car (a daily driver) and see how long it lasts. you would have to stay on top of that periodic cleaning schedule everyday.

how is my lack of knowledge in the field of polishing metal in any way related to my knowledge that putting gold plating on engine components of a daily driven car is not a good choice...

and yes, once i became interested in the idea of polishing my plenum i researched the process on multiple levels. i took time to learn the process thoroughly and i am in the process of polishing a few practice pieces. so instead of being a dumbass and adding an ignorant comment that is absolutely irrelevant, why dont you take some time out of your day and learn why gold plating wont do very well when it is on engine components, and if you find that it is a great idea, come tell me why.

or are you the plenum guru everyone has been talking about??

OP you could get it polished like the one above then get it powder coated a translucent gold.

im not sure what you want me to tell you, i am certainly not in the mood to have a pissing match with some idiot with something up his ***. i do not know you and i will never meet you, so to be honest i dont really give a sh*t about you. stop making a jackass out of yourself by trying to prove you know something that i do not, because up to this point you have provided no evidence that gold plating engine components is in any way practical. my point here is that putting gold plating on a daily driven car is a futile action. if you can find some information stating otherwise please present it, that way we can all learn a little more about the subject; however, i highly doubt that you will.

Whether you powder coat or paint, be sure to do mild to moderate polish - otherwise you will see small specs from the casting (even though it will feel smooth if powder coated – still rough if painting).

I would recommend powder coating over painting by the way... there are boatloads of powder coat colors - I'm sure you can find the gold color you are looking for.
