Default Newb question about redline

OK I tried a search but no answer. I've had my 2004.5 5AT for about a year now, I always get the revs pretty high but never quite redlined it. Today I was just playing around in nuetral and my car goes beyond redline. My car bounces off the limiter at like 7000-7100 rpm instead of 6500. Do you think the previous owner could have done a ECU flash? If so is there anyway to know if they did?

i have an 04.5 and my rev limiter kicks in around 7k as well. i am pretty sure this is normal, and not related to a reflash.
