another newbie with clutch question..

Default another newbie with clutch question..

i was picking up a phone call while shifting to 2nd gear to turn and grinded 2nd. the next thing i notice the clutch pedal didnt come back up i had to make it come up but its ok now. i was driving again same day it grinds again while going into 2nd. my 2nd gears was ruff to put into gear like other Zs but now its smooth. do i need a new clutch or is it ok or any problems i might have..

How many miles and did you check you fluid level? Might need a bleed or might be time for a new one.

sounds like the clutch slave,clutch master or both.

i have like 18k on my 06 but new engine has 3k maybe. ill check fluid. so whats bleeding? and i know somewhat what slave is but need more info on it.. well i've been driving around and the gears just feel smoother. im just scared to shift fast..

engine swapping can damage the slave due to over travel of plunger during dissasembly,if you re-place the slave you should consider doing the master as well.they are seperate but part of the same function,and if you are having problems why replace half of a system.

i have an 05, and the dealer just replaced the slave. my clutch pedal was not popping back up and now it works fine.

My clutch pedal got stuck before and it was the master and I got it replaced. But it happened to me again today while I tried to downshift to make a lane change. The clutch pedal went all the way down for 2 sec before it pop back up. I might have to take it back to dealership again.

perfect example of why you should replace both,they see the same abuse over time so why only change half?i understand the sava buck mentality,but a tow costs more than the part.
