Default Drivetrain slack

Searched and havent found a thread on this yet. Is is the slack that's in the drivetrain that is causing the clunking that one hears on the 1-2 and 2-3 shift?
I have some drivetrain slack, just wanted to see if other members have it as well.
I've driven other (new) cars, and found the driveline to be really tight..no slack whatsoever.

not an expert but I've read a lot of threads saying that our tranny is just clunky sounding naturally.
