Default hot start or bad starter?

So I get in my car and it starts up with no issues and I go to the grocery store. I come out get in my car and it won't start at all. I've had some hot starts every now and then, but my understanding is that this is common with utec and larger injectors. It seemed to me that my starter took a dump. I was able to get a push start, and when I got home I let the car sit for 10 minutes, and it started right up with no problems at all. So my question is this. Can repeated hot starts screw up my starter, or was this probably an isolated incident?
