Default Need help asap!!! New spark plugs = smoky start

So I just installed new spark plugs... OEM. Started the car up and smoke came shooting out of the engine and exhaust, I turned it off right away scared the **** out of me.

One of the plugs had a little oil around it when I took it out...don't know if this is the cause...

Do I have a big problem or what?? I don't know what to do I don't want to turn the car on again. There was a lot of smoke...never had this happen before

Need to know ASAP!

Are all of the coil pack connectors plugged in? Make the sure the cylinders arent switch.

The oil on the threads is probably just a little drip through the valve cover spark plug seal.

Was there any unusual noise during this? I would go back, and double check your work...it's probably something really obvious. Best of luck.

Yeah, all the coilpacks are plugged in and each connection is hooked to the right one. The oil was only on the coilpack side of the one spark plug cylinder. I'm thinking just that little bit dripped down and it will burn off with some driving...just want to be sure its safe to do this?

No noises, just smoke. Came out of the exhaust too which why I think its that oil from the one plug...I just don't want to mess anything up if I go try to drive it off.

the smoke should go away after a couple of minutes. You are fine.

LOL, Nforce1's car did this a couple weeks ago. He needs a new valve cover gasket on the #1 bank. Basically the sparkplug hole was filled about 3/4 inch gauging from the plug and coil pack. All the oil goes down in the cylinder when you pull the plug, then smokes for a few minutes upon the first start.

So.....next time I started it, everything was perfectly fine. Must have burned it all off the first time, no smoke at all which was kinda suprising. Good to go!
