Default Update: Engine Knocking

Yea, its still happening, and its getting worse.

the most alarming portion of this issue is engine knocking at idle. its sporadic, every 3-15 seconds and sometimes it does not happen for a couple of minutes. audible within the passenger compartment, as well as outside the car, and when the hood is open (obviously). idle will drop at times, causing moderately heavy vibration and near stall-out. turning a/c on or off will usually cause a streak of detonations.

the second issue (possibly unrelated, though i highly doubt it) is irregular vibration while decelerating. for example, i will be going 60 and as i let off of the gas the car will decelerate normally (no vibrations) for a couple of seconds, then a vibration will start, noticeable in my seat and through my shifter. this issue is less constant, though it will happen at least once every time i drive the car.

during times when these symptoms are very prevalent, there is reduced performance, lagging.

no cels. i have tried resetting the ecu, both technosquare method as well as disconnection of battery overnight. nismo intake has been taken off, not relevant. no exhaust leaks. car is in perfect condition otherwise; all fluids normal. still under warranty. so far i have considered a catch can, my reasoning being that this might be due to blow-by. i run 93 octane, mobil 1 5w-30, with 2500-3500 change intervals.

any suggestions? thoughts? ideas? i am planning on bringing her in within the next week, and i am shooting for a new engine. serious knocking at idle just seems like a very serious issue to me, probably indicative of bigger problems. does anyone have any advice as far as what i should say to the dealership?

If your under warranty.. just take it to the dealer and problem solved. To be honest there isn't much we can do from the " internet " If its under warranty bring it and you'll find out your problem. Good luck.

i understand that there is not much one can do from the internet, and even if you could diagnose, its not like i can tear down and rebuild...

i am looking for someone who has had similar symptoms, in hopes that they found out the cause of the issue. i hesitate to take it in right away because i have a very good feeling that the dealership is going to tell me that since its not throwing cels, they will not replace the block. if i knew why it was doing this i could give a more accurate diagnosis to the dealer and have a more convincing case for a swap.

The engine knocking at idle is considered normal according to dealers. Not sure I believe it but they won't do anything about it. There are plenty of others with it. The vibration when decelerating - no idea.
