Ready for the non-smart *** answer
What it actually does at very low rpm (idle) it helps speed the air into the intake up. While you may gain more horsepower at idle(smart *** comment), you will actually lose power up top due to a massive restriction call the turbonator in your intake system.
If you want to try something interesting call up STS they make exhaust mounted "Turbo Systems". Supposedly they produce power just as effiecent as a regular turbocharger. Just without the lag. Huh?!?!?!?!?!?!

I just saw the turbonator ad/link up top on this website for the first time. Disappointed that my350z has decided to accept this type of advertising. Someone sold their soul here somewhere.
