sorry it took me so long to update this. Unfortunately at this point I don't have anything positive to report. The educated guess I had made as to what the proper ring and pinion would be, turned out to be wrong, so I'm still searching. Somewhere there is a 4.3 that bolts into the car but as of yet, I cannot find it. The one we tried (38100-04M00), the ring gear bolts to the diff, but the driveshaft flange won't slide onto the pinion. So, the search continues. I know this part exists, as Nissan themselves used it on their Super Taikyu cars. But so far, I cant find out what the proper one is.

it was used in the ST1 cars

Yes, but they have different transmissions with different gear ratios.
Their first gear ratio is 3.321:1 and ours is 3.794:1
Their second gear ratio is 1.902:1 and ours is 2.324:1
...and so on

I've seen this on spec lists of a couple drift cars and always so dered where it came from. And if I recall I read once it's out of a frontier. Older model I think. Anyway, hope that helps. I want one too!

lol - I know what it is, I have it The problem is, its far from being a bolt on
and don't rely too heavily on what you read on some of the 240 sites. Not all of it is accurate

The car I saw this gear on was a 350z in a published magazine... Not a 240 site.

My old Si had a 4.9 ratio, but a 8500 rpm redline and no torque.

that doesn't seem right, I had 4.083 in my '04 and going 65mph in 6th it was running at 3100 rpm. so with a 4.3 you'd expect the rpm to alot higher than 3100rpm going 70.

again, the info I posted with respect to RPM was derived using the calculator I posted, and using my rear tire size. I frankly don't care what it ends up being - I don't care what the cruising gas mileage is. Not to mention, it's pretty clear that this is not going to be a part we anticipate selling, as there is just too much involved to make it work properly. I'll be lucky if we get it to work on my car alone

Wondering if this topic is still being research on or discontinued? I was surfing the NISMO webby earlier and the 380RS-C has 4.3 on them as well, not sure if 380RS comes with 4.3, if it does, would it be a bolt on from 380RS to 350Z?

Yes, we had one built one for my car, using a Quaife LSD. It's all done, though it was a very involved process. It ended up involving a ton of custom parts, lots of machine work, etc. It is extremely expensive to do, and a lot of man hours. We don't think there is any market for such an expensive setup (I'd say in the ~ $5000 range with all the required parts, though that would include a choice of LSD's), so we have no plans to offer it for sale. If someone is reall serious about doing it, we could offer it to them, but I don't expect any calls about it.

There is lots of info posted on our blog:

http://cornerbalance.wordpress.com/c...ams-build-z33/

It's the "Bringing up the Rear" series of posts at the above link.

The pumpkin is assembled, in my possession, but I haven't had any time to install it yet.

The 380RS has a 3.5 final drive. from the factory IIRC. The RS-C comes with the 4.3

^^^ wow... their prices have gone up!? must be the extra cost for packaging... lol!

i remember mine (Central 20 -3.9) coming in a little cardboard box with absolutely no packing, yea...
i was a little pissed off!!

i'm running 305/30/19's and still shift at 6600 now and then, it's a lot of shifting. i think 3rd tops out in the high 70's.

i think 4.3 is just silly if you don't have the means to go beyond 6600.

I know I'm bring this back from the dead but do you have that review up on the web? Curious for I was thinking about 4.30's and there isn't a lot of info out there on them.
