no one??? It's primarily used by race teams - but according to Baker Performance lots of people have been asking for a performance street version...

I'm gonna try it next change and probably try the gear oil... the make brake fluid too (I guess I'll try them all).

I can think of no easier way to void a new car warranty than to use their engine oil. If you do use it, you should get a UOA. It will be pretty funny if you don't know what to expect.

I wasn't referring to your car in particular, just making a general statement about the oil. If you ever see a VOA on Neo, you'll understand.

It's a racing oil, used by several teams in Le Mans, champ car, etc... and really offers no good advantages over off-the-shelf engine oils in terms of performance for a street driven vehicle. There are UOA's of Neo posted on the web, so you could search and see for yourself. If you decide to try it, I really do suggest you get your own UOA. Post it in the oil analysis thread, and I'll let you know why it isn't as awful as it will initially look. (they use an add pack designed for a race car, so the UOA will read as though your engine is about to destruct) You can compare your own result with averages from other VQ engines to see if it's worth your money. I doubt you'll keep using it. Unless you're headed to LeMans.

I guess I failed to mention in that post, that they make a street version

Will, is the bad oil analysis' you've seen the race version in street cars? Or their street version?

Sorry, your implication was that people wanted a street version of their oil, but I didn't know they actually make a street version of their oil now. I took it to mean that you were referring to any one of a number of folks who have simply used Neo oils on the street.

The sample I've got on file is from 2006, and was the only 5W-30 they sold. So, if Neo is now selling a "street" version, the one I have, and the numerous UOA's I've seen, are not from this new blend. You would be the first person I've heard using it.

A quick browse through their website doesn't show anything relating to a special blend for the street, just the same 5W-30 and 10W-30 they've always had with the caption that it may be used on the street or track. "Used" on the street for certain, but they don't carry an API, ILSAC or SAE certification for a reason, and having seen the VOA, it's for good reason. They use enough lead additive to kill a small horse, and you can kiss your catalytic converters goodbye. Of course, the formulations may have changed and the bottles are still the same. Neo doesn't give out much in the way of technical information on their oils. I did see that they are expecting to produce a 0W-40 weight soon. Perhaps that blend is targeted for street users? I'm not sure.

Again, if you get a UOA, I'd be happy to look at it with you.

thanks for the info Will... I'm glad you responded here

Baker gave me a brochure about the oil - I haven’t even read it yet... when I have some time I'll scan and post (if it has anything that might be of value)... If it doesn’t look like it’s a good idea, I'll pass on it.

FWIW, I asked (Baker) specifically who made it, about it's propertied, etc. (since I wasn’t real familiar)... they stated that it is used by race teams and prior that was all they did... people were asking for it for their street car so they developed a line suitable for street.

I'll post the brochure later and if you still feel it’s not a good idea I'll trust your judgment.

I’m sure you already read the limited info here:

Thanks again for your input
