If you were changing out all your fluids, what brand?
If you were to change out all your fluids (engine oil, tranny oil, differential oil, etc....)
What brand would you go with?
Motul, Redline, Royal Purple etc........
Thanks,
Victor

I use Mobil 1 non-syn for engine oil for now (synthetic probably next oil change). I changed my tranny/diff oil with Redline.
Noticeable changes to tranny
- no more tranny grind shifting from 1st-2nd after cold startup.
- no more clunk noise after releasing clutch and putting it neutral when coming to a stop (usually was heard releasing from low gears)
- overall much smoother to shift when warm than with oem oil
- the "whine" sound has lessened also.
Have about 5K miles, switched to Redline at 3K.

Redline is too expensive for my blood, unless you have a real high performance application. IF I had FI, I would probably go Redline. Amsoil is always good for all of your fluids, especially since money might have something to do with your choice. I have Mobil 1 right now, just for engine oil, and haven't changed any of the others yet.

How much is the redline? Where can one find it? I heard, on this site, that when the dealer checks your tranny cause you reported a problem with it, and it has something other than oem, it nullifies your warranty. Anyone care to elaborate?

As for brake fluid, I use ATE Blue/Red. Because of the colors, every time I have to swap out fluid I can tell when the new fluid reaches the calipers. Makes it nice and easy. Not to mention the high boiling point.

The manual warns to use the same viscosity rating oil for the tranny or was it the diff. So i just assumed that was all that mattered.
Ive gone with Redline in the diff and 6MT tranny, Mobil 1 synthetic in the engine all at 6400 miles.
The shifter is alot slicker through the gates. Enough to make me miss shift the first day i drove it with the new fluids. Shifts are a tad smoother and less clunky noisier. More foregiving is what im thinking I believe.
I payed like 8.79 per quart of Redline for a total of about 60 bucks. Then 90 bucks for the dealer to drain out the old stuff and pump all the new stuff in. Ive seen a quart go for 7.50 in Austin TX or just find a couple more 350Z pals and split a case.
I think its worth the money cause its hotter then hell in Houston so the tranny and diff need all the protection they can get, plus i like to run in the triple digits on the freeways when ever i can.

The only thing I would be concerned about is whether a thinner tranny fluid might cause damage. I believe it was at least one thread on these forums that someone who drove their car hard (auto-x, etc.) and said they had transmission problems after running with a synth tranny fluid for awhile. Something about not enough friction for the synchros to work like they're supposed to.

OK, Vic, since you didn't like my first reply, I will give you another one. In my first post, I really just talked about engine oil, so here we go with the rest.
You will have to find out what kind will go well with the car by a little experimentation. The manual trans requests 75W85, but very few aftermarket sources sell this particular kind of gear oil. Redline has been recommended by others, but it doesn't come in 75W85. Now, you can try a 50/50 mix of 70W80 and 75W90, or you could just go with either one alone. This is where you could run into the problems of having too thin of a trans fluid like the previous poster said.
There is a similar situation with the gear oil, where Nissan wants 80W90. Few really fill this, although there are a lot that are close. Redline has a 75W90, while Amsoil has an 80W90. Now, this goes under more stress if you tow a lot, but I don't think we have to worry about this as much in our car.
OK, is that good enough for ya??
