Probably just a resistor inside that box. When the lead for the MAF is hooked to it, the resistor adjusts the voltage, and hence the reading. This is certainly the worst way to adjust a fuel curve. There are many variations of this product that use the example above. I would stay away form this. Any piggy back that does not have an actual CPU or integrated circuit is a bunch of bull plop.
