Angry Help my engine is knocking!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok guyz I need your help. Lets just say im an idiot for what I did. I drove my z through about give or take 15 inches of water. My z stalled in the middle of that body of water and didnt want to start. I got out and pushed my z to the nearest dry part of the street. Ok so I get back in the car turn it on and nothing. I got a friend to tow me home. I turn on the car and the engine starts to knock. I instantly know something is wrong. I checked my oil and it look like coffee that had been mixed with sugar and milk. So I quickly drained the oil and walk to Advance Auto Parts about 5 blocks from my house by some Penzoil 10w-30 full synthetic and a filter. I get to my house and put the oil and the filter and I am still hearing a knocking. And clear smoke is coming out the exhaust.

So please help diagnose my problem. I will post up a video of my problem. In a little bit.

This is a simple fix, just replace the bent rods and pistons/rings and you should be good to go.

You need a new shortblock, sorry bro, did you have a cold air intake?

There are tons of different knocks, caused by different things. Water got into the oil no doubt, but unless you drove it or ran the engine for a very long time, I doubt if you did any mechanical damage. The knock is probably coming from a firing issue, but without hearing it, I can't tell. My 350Z was flooded by Ike, just a tad over the bottom of the door. It killed the whole car, wouldn't fire off or anything.

There some spray, CRC 2-26 I beleive that is a moisture displacer, I've been using it on all my electric tools that were flooded and so far all are working fine.

Good Luck

Call your insurance company they will pay for this. I had this happen to me before and I got a big fat check from it. I know another guy who put a CAI on his Z and sucked up water and got a check for 10,000 and got a mild build with turbo!

Your probably going to have to get another engine somewhere. I have a stong feeling that one is history.

Its going to be thousands is the worst part. I know a Z shop here in Tampa that has dozens of oil consumption motors, revups and regular de's. He does swaps for about 3,500. I suggest u start looking around for the same kind of place. Or u can ask you dad to lay down the cash and fix your car. A new longblock from the dealer installed is about 9k.

you arent completely alone. I took have had moments of stupidity. Not quite 15"s worth of stupidity, but close.

I have a greddy lip on my car and went through some water and with the lip it shoved it right into my intake. Only thing is mine didnt start.

which brings me to....

George@GTM This is a simple fix, just replace the bent rods and pistons/rings and you should be good to go.

I bent then snapped one rod and bent all the others. gouged my cylinder wall knicked my main girdle AND punched a hole in my lower pan.

somewhere north of $13k and months of labor I got a new built shortblock, fresh heads, customs twins, full exhaust etc etc.

Im even running the same oil pan. it just has a fancy patch!!

(p.s. $13k with free labor and sponsors)

I do have extended warranty on my car which cover Powertrain, but the only problem is I don't think what happened to it was a manufactuer flaw.

1. If you have a CAI... remove it and put everything back to stock... Go to the dealership.. I mean hey, why not. See what they say. if they dont cover it, move on.
2. Call geico.
3. if all of the above fail. Time to shop for a new engine.

what can ya do. **** happens.. Good luck man
