Question Transmission help 03

Hi guys, I know there have been numerous posts on the transmission problem with grinding into third and into fifth especially at high rpm. I have searched for several hours and im trying to get together all of the threads that have information on the fix which from what I understand is to swap in an 09 transmission (cd009)? is there anything that would make this swap difficult? does there need to be a change of ecu or reprogram?

I went to my local nissan dealership and they were not familiar with the issue, but I explained the solution that I found here. They were slightly perplexed. They asked me to make sure that the 2009 transmission will fit in my 03, as well as while they are taking this piece of S*** transmission out I might as well swap for a better clutch and flywheel, which one do you all recommend and what flywheel and clutch will match up with an 03 350z with an 2009 transmission in it? does it matter?

Guys I am pleading for your help here I only have one chance to order the right parts and after i do i cant return them, please don't flame,

I have done hardly any posts on this forum since i signed up because everyone here is so knowledgeable and all my questions are usually answered by simple searching, but here I REALLY NEED some assistance

Thanks!

You are correct that the CD009 transmission is the fix. However this is NOT the 2009 transmission. CD009 is the most recent manual transmission for the 2003-2006 350Z's. No ECU change is necessary, but they sometimes will install a new clutch. (I think they are supposed to, but don't quote me on that). If you are under the drivetrain warranty, this should be covered.

I got my 009 for free under warranty.. They did not replace the clutch. My stock one is/was holding up just fine. ( clutches are NOT under warranty ) Even though some get lucky.

As for clutches it depends... Do a search there is plenty of info here. If your planning on going turbo, then just save up for a clutch untill you go turbo. If your just looking a for a clutch while the tranny is out then go for a JWT combo. A lot of people like it.

I think all the 03 Z that have gotten a new tranny from nissan , they automatically give the 009. When I got mine replaced I didnt even ask for it I just saw " cd009 " in the working papers. If you mention cd009 they should know what your talking about

CD009 is the last 5 digits of the part number, I think the full part number is 32010-cd009. The "cd009" is more like the revision. If they just look in the computer for the part, they should see it.
