Default Hesitating acceleration

It might be just me but I have a feeling that on a first attempt to accelerate, the Z engine responds slowly while on the second attempt it is quicker to respond. I find that it often makes the car feel slower than it really is as it does not always react like a 300hp car... but when push agressively very often, then the engine seems to respond differently.

Could it be that the ECU has been programmed to make this car easier to drive for non-very-sporty drivers? Could it be that it has been programmed like that to avoid unnecessary stress to transmission and other parts of the car?

As an example, I drove an M3 many times and every time you depressed the throttle, it feels like it gives every single hp it can give right there, right now (on the sport mode)...

Would reprogramming the ECU with the cobtuning device make it more responsive?

Let me know.

Thanks.
Mike

How long is the lag? It IS a drive-by-wire throttle. There is going to be a bit of a lag.

It is not a lag for the engine to react, it is more that the engine does react as much on the first attempt... If I repeat the sudden acceleration even just a second after the first one, I get a more sudden acceleration right away.

Thanks for replying.

did you read the link?
On stock** Nissan's 'Drive by wire' setup, after 5500 rpm, the throttle flap starts to close and blocks off air flow. This will still occur even if your foot is smashed down on the accelerator pedal. They do this to reduce horsepower and torque giving you the feeling that the car is no longer making power causing you to lift off the throttle and shift before reaching the rev limiter.

** Some models will vary
****this may be BS.

Ok, that's interesting but what I am experiencing happens more at low rpm.

Still, thanks for the info. Sometimes I am missing the good old days when men decided and engines obeyed Just kidding.
